El Charro — Restaurant in Santa Rosa

Updating my review to five stars to reflect the past few times I've visited. Glad I gave them a second chance!

Original review: I've probably gotten takeout from El Charro for my son and I 10 times in the past few months. Their food is very good and it is convenient. I typically do online ordering including making payment. Even though I literally just walk in to get my food, I still tip. Had a very frustrating experience tonight which will make me reconsider how frequently or if I visit again. I placed an online order and paid for a supreme burrito with no tortilla and supreme nachos. I could see that there was only one small bag of chips so asked for a second bag. Nachos can get soggy so it's nice for my son to have some fresh chips, and I like chips too. I asked for a second bag of chips and was told, "no, sorry." What???? Incredulous, I kindly repeated the request saying, shouldn't there be two bags of chips given that there are two meals? She said no again. I mean they saved the cost of my tortilla and they can't provide a small freaking bag of chips? What poor customer service to a regular. There are plenty of other great taquerias around. This is our go to Mexican restaurant. Large portions so we always split a #50 with a side of flour tortillas. The girls know our faces and just ask US before we order "Would you like the #50"? We are an older couple so don't need to eat that much...plus saves on the take home container. #50 is like a sampler plate. Great Mom and Pop place... those kind we like to support. I would have only given it 5 stars... it gets really busy ALREADY and I'm being selfish ...... I DON'T want there to BE a line or HAVE to wait.... when now you can just walk in and sit ANYWHERE. I've never seen an advertisement for THIS place. Seems word of mouth works VERY WELL. I know WE do our share. My daughter introduced us to this place ...and every time she's BACK in town we take her there. You'll want to take your friends and family also. BUT go early for dinner ...it fills up fast. They also have take out. ...

After eating there regularly for 6 years we've stopped going there. New owners. Ordered a burrito as I'd done for years. Asked that a little more beans be substituted for the rice. Never was an issue or a charge. They charged me $3.50 to substitute the beans for the rice. I couldn't believe it. When I questioned the charge all I got was a flippant "that's what they do". We'll miss our favorite waitresses but it looks like they're gone too. We've found a new Mexican restaurant. We'll never be back. Thanks for your response. It was a few weeks back at lunch time.
