Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Santa Rosa

Jack in the box always gives me a nostalgic feeling. With their commercials and seeing their good ol’ mascot, Jack Box on tv to their crunchy curly fries, I’ve been coming to this cheap fast food restaurant since I was a kid. Jack in the box is one of the longest fast food restaurants around being founded in 1951 and open for 72 years. By the way did you know the founder, Robert O’ Peterson, of jack in the box launched the idea of the drive thru? Well he did! He then inspired the rest of the fast food biz to do the same. Can you believe they’ve even won awards for their commercials? Talk about good entertainment.

Although Jack in the Box has given me good memories I have to say the quality of the food and the customer service has gone down massively. A big reason they’re still in business to this day is because they’re the only restaurant open 24 hours. The tacos are not crunchy anymore. The burgers easily become soggy. I still give them credit for their curly fries as well as the fast paced food delivery. They also are the only fast food restaurant who serves breakfast at all times of the day other than the morning.

This specific Jack in the Box is located on Hoen Road. If you’re going east it is on the right hand side going up on the road, like a hill. If you’re going west it’s on the left hand side. It’s also next to a Valero gas station. This Jack in the Box is on its own premises so they have a parking lot designated just for customers as well as handicapped parking in the front.

I enjoyed the decoration of this specific Jack in the Box although it was dirty with leftover trash from previous customers. I did not however enjoy the fact that they had two restrooms, but only kept one of them open. The one they kept open there was no lock it was completely taken out and the hole was covered with a napkin. This is not right. Customers need to feel comfortable in the privacy of their bathroom break. I even asked an older Hispanic gentleman if I could use the other bathroom, but he rudely refused. The prices are also becoming less cheap. They have a kids menu as well.

I do favor the tiny loaded tacos. I love their size and the amount it comes with.

Overall to the beautiful community of Sonoma county and visitors abroad Jack in the Box isn’t the best fast food restaurant, but they are there for you when you have your 3am early cravings. I would also consider just taking the food to go and enjoying it at home or...

Update: To their credit, things did seem to improve. I've since moved away from the area, and I didn't go back, but I could see that the lines were shorter and seemed to be actually moving before I left. Givin' em the benefit of the doubt and credit for the response... updating from 1 star to 3. It'd be higher if I knew for sure... but I just don't. Full previous review below:

This place is a textbook example of management trying to get away with providing as few resources as they can possibly get away with. The staff is hard-working and friendly, but there are not enough people there to make this place anything close to reasonably functional. It’s called fast food. When it takes more time to eat here than it would to go home and cook a healthy, economical meal for yourself, something has gone horribly wrong. The last 2 times I’ve been, I regretted it bitterly. Half an hour to get some 1 dollar tacos and a coke is not just unacceptable, it’s a crime. This place has forfeited it’s right to exist.

If management doesn’t care enough to adequately staff the joint, why should I care enough to eat there? It’s insulting how little they are willing to...

I usually hit this spot every other Tuesday after a class nearby, and this is the first time I’ve actually used the bathroom, I don’t know if it is always like this, but holy moly what an “experience.”

The floor was wet (you can see my footprint from the toilet to the camera), the urine in the toilet (not mine), the soiled paper towels/tissues on the floor and overall aroma of strong dehydrated urine. Like, I’m pretty sure the urine smell is from the floor, urine on the floor.

It was sticky, gross and made me not want to even order food, as my appetite subsided quite a bit. I got the hell out of there and proceeded to order, but maybe a more thorough check and an hourly check (as it’s advertised) would be beneficial.
