I was so excited to go to this place for my birthday after hearing good reviews. Worst mistake ever. As soon as we walk in we were not greeted, the employee just stood at the counter and stared at us with a blank expressionless face, not even a slight smile. It was really awkward and an uncomfortable experience. I got the brown butter donut, a glazed donut and a cinnamon sugar twist. Everything was so mediocre and disappointing the brown butter literally just tasted sweet there was not a hint of any type of brown butter flavor. And don’t even get me started on the lattes. My partner ordered an Iced mocha and I ordered an iced maple, vanilla triple shot latte. It took over 10 minutes for these two drinks to be made. We were the only customers in the whole place besides one other woman who already had her stuff. We were also still waiting on the donuts. My boyfriend’s iced mocha came as a hot mocha as well as it being somehow lukewarm HA! Also it had no chocolate taste. Got the order wrong and still couldn’t make a proper mocha. My latte was nothing but milk and tasted like nothing. Mind you I got a triple shot, the drink was barely off white in color. I work at a coffee shop I know what a drink should look and taste like. We threw our completely full drinks in the trash and got out of that awful place as soon as we could. We will not be coming back and I will be avoiding this place like the plague and...
Read moreThere was a RAVE review on Facebook about this donut shop, so I had to try it! It was about 11:00 am on a Saturday. Upon arrival I was surprised that there was no place to park except on the surface streets. I parked in a Realtors lot next to the donut store and I received a Look from a man coming out of the Realtor office that knew I wasn't suppose to park there but I hurried in to buy my donuts. They looked INCREDIBLE! I ordered two but (I also like custard filled donuts... so I asked if one donut in particular had custard inside and she said "No", then I asked if they had any with custard inside, so she pointed to their CRONUT. It's half croissant, half donut, so I got that one as well. It tasted like a Churro but had (NO Custard?) The donuts were HUGE but it was like eating French bread with frosting. Odd... I ate half of all 3 of them and gave up trying to make them pass the taste test PLUS why did the girl lie about the Cronut having custard?? So, I walked back in, explained that she said there supposed to be custard inside. She asked if I wanted a refund on the Cronut and I told her that I didn't really like any of it. And she refunded me for all of it. Then I drove 1min. down the street to another donut shop and bought a chocolate custard bar. P.S. I was wired until 5am...
Read moreVery cool hipster doughnut shop with unique coffee drink offerings and plenty of seating.
The "crodough" is their claim to fame - a square donut made of layered dough. I didn't realize that between the many layers there is a cream filling, but I liked it more because of that. The raised donuts have a creamy flavor and the topping selections are unique - I had the crumb version and it was exceedingly delicious. We tried a rice flour fritter with a great flavor but questionable texture because it wasnt a wheat based donut.
All of the donuts are very dense and heavy - the opposite of the Crispy Cream experience. That's not a negative - the doughnuts were substantial and perfectly made, just not mainstream. You will probably only need one, but it's hard to choose.
Parking can be difficult, the coffee was very "dark roast" tasting, and it was pricey. Our party was split on whether we would return - I would give it another try when I want something...
