Honestly, if I could give zero stars I would!
Three words: overpriced, unpalatable, disappointing.
My parents are locals, and there are so many places I would go before Wicks. One out of ten, do NOT recommend!
We have tried this place 4 times now over the last several years and it continues to disappoint. The food is so overpriced, and just NOT GOOD AT ALL! The chicken salad is a pile of lettuce with a piece of deep friend chicken on top for $21, the pizza tasted funny and was over-cooked, the crab dip was basically a warm bowl of cream cheese with melted cheese on top - no better than a tub of dip from the grocery store (actually maybe not even as good), and most of the food (when it finally came) was either over done and/or cold. I don’t think a single person in our party of 10 was pleased with their meal. And don’t even get me started on the slow service and the multiple mistakes with our orders and our bill. We had numerous missed and/or incorrect orders, items added to our bill that were not delivered, and when we brought that to their attention it was met with frustration. Thank god I did check the bill, because it was $30 in mistakes! And again, this is not our first experience there. One time my daughter (4yo at the time) actually sucked up an EARRING BACKING through her straw from her drink!? I could vomit thinking about it. When we alerted the staff they were completely unfazed as if that were a normal occurrence!?! We were given almost no apology, nor did they remedy to the situation by adjusting the bill. It was so nuts. We were floored! Now years later, we thought we would give it ONE more shot, and shame on us! This time was no better the the first three times. At least they are consistent.
[EDIT: If you choose to go, check the other poor reviews, and more importantly…check your bill! Seems that over-charging and/or sneaking things onto the check is a trend!]
I went here with a group who was in town for a bachelorette party late on a Friday night, and we kind of expected a particular kind of environment when we looked at it from the outside; it seemed very quaint and quiet and like there would be cute cafe food with mimosas available or something. It was a totally different scene when we walked through the door: a DJ at the front of the restaurant with music blaring and people very obviously ready to boogie. As we sat down, I could see on everyone's faces that we were a bit horrified at the anticipated evening to come. We had to scream at one another across the table, since the music was so loud, to the point that I got a headache and was starting to lose my voice. As we were handed the menu, it looked underwhelming and I thought one friend quite bold when she ordered the mussels, given the dive bar vibes. However, when everyone's food came out, I think most people were pretty surprised at both the presentation of the food as well as the flavor. The plates were clean, and the food was very obviously made to order. People took bites of others' food, and the aforementioned mussels were absolutely delicious and remarkably plentiful. Large portions, delicious food, and our waitress was really friendly and handled our large party with ease. The DJ played what I would call a great wedding playlist (which is a compliment), but occasionally, the feel of the music wavered away from what the crowd was wanting. I don't know if it's normal for this place to have a DJ, but its a fun night life vibe. NOTE: PLEASE ORDER THE COCONUT SHRIMP. HAVE YOUR...
Read moreWe are here last night to celebrate a birthday. A party of 17. Everything thing seemed to go well until the food was served. We all had our food except 1. The waitress stated as the last plate was served that oh we will be bringing your dinner which was mac and cheese with side of chicken will be out in just a minute. Ok, that sounded ok until the minutes became longer. She returned to see how everyone else was doing with their food and then again stated it will be just a minute more. Well plates were being finished by the time mac and cheese arrived. When it came time for the bill, I stated that I didn't feel that we should have to pay full price or even half of what was charged for the Mac n cheese since I waited so long and watched every one else eat while I waited for my meal. The waitress stayed she would have to talk to her manager. She then comes back with the bill and stated they deducted the chicken off the bill. Well the chicken was a $6.00 charge and they deducted $5.00 So dissatisfied with this but did not want to make a scene. Why should the waitress have to ask the manager. She new that this was not right and should have made it right. No one should receive their meal after someone in the party has finished their meal. If the Mac n cheese takes longer then that should have been started first. No, I Believe you forgot it and discovered it when all the rest of the meals were prepared! Shame on You for not making this right. Last time We will be there. Plenty of other great restaurants...
