I’ve had better sushi and edamame, but unfortunately, this place came close to the bottom of the list. As much as I love edamame, this experience was a major letdown. The edamame was overcooked and mushy, making it a hassle to eat. Every time I bit into a pod, the skin and shell separated, which meant I was constantly pulling bits of them out of my mouth. The sushi wasn’t the visually appealing, vibrant kind I’ve come to expect. On top of that, it lacked flavor. I also had some concerns about the freshness of the sushi rolls. They kept falling apart when I tried to grab one, which made me think they may have been sitting around for a while, or that the ingredients weren’t the freshest. My fiancé and I visited today based on the impressive 4.8-star rating, but we left extremely disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we realized this was not a traditional hibachi experience no chef cooking at your table, no atmosphere, nothing resembling what you'd expect. Instead, it felt more like a fast-food setup, which was not what we were looking for.

We ordered the hibachi steak and the teriyaki chicken and steak combo, spending around $30. Unfortunately, the food was incredibly underwhelming. It was bland, lacked any depth of flavor, and honestly felt thrown together. For the price, we expected something much better at the very least, something edible and flavorful.

Sumo Hibachi Grill & Sushi on Victory Drive is a fantastic, no-frills spot for a quick and delicious meal. Located in a strip mall, it’s all about great food without any pretentiousness. Ordering carry-out was super easy, and the staff was friendly and efficient.

We went with the P5 Hibachi Grilled Scallops for our order, and it was absolutely spot-on. The scallops were perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, served with generous portions of fried rice and fresh veggies. Everything was still hot and fresh by the time we got home, and the quality was just as good as if we had eaten in the restaurant.
