Update 9/23/2023 While this place has a very good menu and great variety. It’s hit and miss on some items. I loved their quesadillas and was excited to go back to try 2 other items for carryout. Sadly I was very disappointed. I write very credible reviews to help people make choices. Unfortunately, I have to update and take stars away. While they are using all fresh produce and bread items, the meat on both of the sandwiches was not that great (breaded chicken cermita, Milanese Beef torta). When ordering, I asked if they used real chicken breast on the cemita which the girl advised they did. Sorely the chicken was more of a super very thin processed pressed meat piece. I didn’t even taste chicken. The rest of everything on the sandwiches was very good. Basically it tasted better without the meat! After 1 bite, I threw the entire sandwich away. They need to significantly improve the chicken used in the sandwiches. Chicken should look and taste like a breast not look like a super thin light yellow pressed object.
———————— Cielo Mexican Grill is an excellent Schaumburg Hidden gem for sure! This is the best chicken quesadilla in Schaumburg!
Firstly, warm chips are brought to the table by a friendly server.Their salsa has a little kick to it but not overly hot.
I ordered the chicken quesadillas for starters. First off it was huge and took up almost the whole entire plate. They really give you a good amount of chicken and cheese! The delicious homemade oaxaca cheese was oozing out. Chicken (all breast meat) is very lightly seasoned. It’s served with fresh made guacamole, and a nice dollop of sour cream with a tomato onion salad too. They give you such generous portions here of everything on the plates.
I can only imagine how tasty all the other menu items are! I can’t wait to come back with friends and try their other items. Tacos, fajitas, burritos, Chile relleno, cemita poblano’s, flauta’s and the 1/2 pound Mexican burgers are sure to be really delicious! They have a really nice desert menu but you’ll need to save room for it if you can.
Prices are very inexpensive and the value you get is better than anywhere else I’ve been. They do catering and you can even have small parties there. The restaurant was very clean, neatly organized and service was both fast...
Read moreI was craving a burrito and was looking to try a new location. So, I decided to stop on in and give Cielo in Schaumburg, a try. The service was awesome as for the initial meet and greet for a customer. I decided to order an Al Pastor Burrito to take home and enjoy while relaxing and watching some tv. The complete time spent waiting for the food was about 10 minutes or so. When I got home, I got comfortable and prepared everything around me so that I can eat with no interruptions. I opened up the bag and grabbed the wrapped in foil burrito. My hand felt super moist, so I was thinking that this burrito is going to be very juicy. But when I looked at my hand it was dripping in the oil used to cook the meat. The burrito shell was covered in oil, but I was like ok I'm going to still give this a try. I opened the super oily foil wrapped around the burrito and 1st thing that I noticed was that the Al Pastor was burnt through and through and tasted very pasty (OLD). The burrito was cut in half and filled, actually super stuffed with Al Pastor which is awesome but even the Al Pastor in the 2nd half was burnt through and through, (Black & Crispy). That was a 12-to-13-dollar loss, and I ended up eating pizza after throwing the entire burnt burrito out in the trash. I did notice the sign on the front window stating looking for a cook, and I guess that I should have read between the lines there. Actually, the worst burrito I have ever had. Check your bag before...
Read moreHidden Gem! A MUST try! Tried it for the first time. Visited with my husband and son for a quick meal. I had the salad with Chicken. My son had hot wings because he was not that hungry. My husband tried the Chicken cemita. I took no pictures but the food is presented well. The chips and salsa were so good and the salsa was not weak. If you like a tomatoey weak salsa, this is not your place.
The menu is simple and varied. This place reminds me of Mexico City or Guadalajara. I see many of these types of lunch/dinner cafes in those cities and in Mexico, they do put other non-mexican items on the menu. Because everyone loves a cheeseburger, not just we Americans. I will definitely go back.
The food is really high quality (you can taste it). My salad had a lovely chicken breast that was not dry and it was flavorfully charred. My son liked the wings (tired teenager, couldn't get much out of him). My husband liked his meal so much that he ordered another meal for dinner. The steak quesadilla. I will ask how he liked that. It's definitely getting added to my list of local favorites.
The ambiance is simple and clean. The staff is friendly. They have horchata AND mango water. I will add pictures in the future, but honestly, go for the good food and not a photo op. Even if no one reads this. I'm super glad to have found this place!
ps- They gave us white chocolate covered stawberries as an après repas (post meal...
