Favorite place to get donuts in all of Chicago! I live downtown and it’s always worth the 1+ hour round trip to get donuts at this shop. They have a large variety of donuts and I’m surprised by how many A tier to S tier donuts they have. It also helps that their prices are super reasonable and the shop is open 24-hours. The service has always been great even at 2-3am. There’s really no other donut shop like this place around Chicago šŸ˜‹

The kids and I enjoyed watching them through the glass roll and cut dough to make donuts. They were fresh and delicious! It was tough having to make a decision! They also had professionally decorated frosted sugar cookies! A definite little gem in HE, but I can’t say that it’s hidden because that door never stopped opening and closing the entire time we were there!

They make their donuts ON SITE, so this place smells like a donut shop. There is a window into the kitchen so you can watch the products being made. They feature boxed 'day old' donuts at a discount price. The decor looks like a 50's soda shop. The best is their Cinnamon Rolls, fried dough, glazed not frosted.

As a recent transplant to the Chicago area, I’m currently in a desperate search for new fav places that offer my go to comfort and happy foods. Donuts are a top priority for me!

I was really looking forward to trying this place because it looked like they offered the type of old school donuts that I pine after! If you’ve ever been to or lived in Los Angeles, I am really missing my Korean donut shops that sell the freshest old school donuts neatly tucked into those pink boxes. That’s what I love and that’s what I’m looking for.

Unfortunately, County donuts fell short. They are the old fashioned type, but they are just mediocre. But the worst part was how awful the chocolate cream donuts are! THOSE ARE MY FAVS - nothing beats a fresh test donuts filled full of fresh pastry cream! But the ones that County donuts are selling are not worth getting! There is so little filling that it just feels like a slightly undercooked donut. And the filling is absolute garbage. It wasn’t even really chocolate! It was a weird tan color.

Now the donut itself was fresh and tasted fine. And other flavors were definitely better, but stay away from anything fillled. It will Disappoint you. The coconut donut was solid and the strawberry frosted donut was actually great.

Also, DO NOT ORDER VIA DOORDASH!! They messed up my order and replaced some of the donuts I was really looking forward to with junk. There was no apology or explanation, they just sent what they sent. Not happy considering it cost me nearly $50 all in. So clearly you have to actually go in. It will be a lot cheaper anyway… they really jack up their prices for DoorDash. And they aren’t cheap to begin with.

Anyway, while County Donuts ultimately disappointed me, they had enough Options that were actually pretty good and in the general vicinity of what I’m searching for. The coffee is decent and the donut holes were a huge hit with my Partner. So I’ll def go again but I won’t go out of my way or go very often.

I personally will continue my search for the best old School donuts in the...

We headed hear after a night in the city thinking it was Country Donuts. I guess I need my reading glasses or have to enlarge the text on my screen. Anyway, this place is 24 hours. But it's located south of Old Schaumburg and not the mall area (Woodfield Mall, One Schaumburg Place, etc.)

We pulled into the lot at around 10:30pm on a Friday night. There was no one there it seemed, but that's because the worker (owner, perhaps) was in the back filling up Boston Cream donuts.

The fluorescent lighting was reminiscent of older 1950's diners with harsh lighting.

Anyway, we entered the establishment and made our selections. Since he was freshly filling Boston Creams, we each ordered one. My wife also ordered a half dozen donut holes: three glazed, and three chocolate glazed. They were a nice size, but meh.

I ordered a red velvet cake donut. Where the Boston Cream was yeasty with very little cream inside, the red velvet cake was soft, with gooey glaze and it just melted in your mouth with a smooth, velvety finish. This was the donut worth driving out there for. However, since we were driving to a location I thought was there, but wasn't. This still hit the spot. And is way better than the chain donut places every day of the week and...

Let’s be clear, I LOVE their donuts! The only thing I don’t like about this place is that their register does NOT have a price display for customers. Only the merchant sees the total. So you have to take their word on the total of your bill. Not cool. (And I think it is against the village code.) Nevertheless, LOVE their donuts & assorted pastries. Way more variety then Dunkin, and others. And seasonal flavors too. Prices are fair, in my opinion. And YES...while it is true the employees always offer a receipt at point of sale, aren’t we living in the 21st century? I thought the point was to REDUCE paper waste NOT add to it, by forcing customers to take a needless receipt that will only end up in the immediate trash. Is it really too much trouble or cost to have a digital display facing customers for a better, honest customer transaction? Especially for customers who would prefer to save on paper? I want to be very clear, I have never been ripped off by this store nor had any unfair pricing issues. But, I am just saying, a price display FOR customers would remove any implication and be fair for BOTH merchant and customer....
