Unfortunately my first visit will be my last. We were sat at about 5:30 PM, in a section of the restaurant that was empty - so it wasn't really busy yet. We ordered our drinks and those came out right away. So far, so good. We then ordered an appetizer (spinach artichoke dip) 1 kids meal, and two steak salads. The app didn't come out to our table for 45 minutes. Waitress said the dip is made on the same line as the pizzas and they had a 2 hour delivery window, plus another waitress "stole" our app for another table. But that now that we had our app we'd have our salads shortly. We told her to at least bring out the our child's food ASAP, which to their credit they did. 45 minutes later, STILL no salad and our waitress was avoiding us. Once I saw that other tables round us that were sat down well after us not only had their appetizers but their entrees, I flagged down another waitress to send out the manager. He apologized and went to check on things. He came back and said that because the app had been delayed they'd pushed back making the salads to give us time to eat the app, which would make sense except that we'd gotten the spinach dip 45 minutes ago and no signs of our entrees. But fine, whatever.
It still took a solid 10 minutes for the food (meaning they still hadn't started making it yet when the manager went back to the kitchen - we're talking salads here folks). And my salad order was wrong, I'd ordered it without tomatoes and onions and it had plenty of both. Wasn't taking a chance on sending it back though, so I picked around it. The manager had also said he comped the salads but when we got the check only one had been taken off. We couldn't wait any longer for them to fix it (like my wrong salad - who even knows how long that would take) so we paid and left.
I used to work at a busy restaurant, I know things happen - the kitchen gets backed up on a busy night and things just can't get back on track. I'm a patient person and try to be understanding, as long as an establishment tries to make it right I tend to rolls with things. But the screw ups just kept happening - even them "trying to make it right" got screwed up. The food was good, I'll give credit where credit is due, and it's unfortunate that this turned into such a disaster because I would otherwise like to return. But I'm not giving a second chance, there are just too many other options where I know I'll get...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience at the Moretti's in Hoffman Estates. Please be warned if you are planning a private event there. After a month of continuous conversations, the management team still ruined our day. Specifically, Kelly. If you have the displeasure of working with her, please beware. You just might have to babysit her at her own job. Firstly, a few days before our event, we were told we needed to meet a minimum that was 400 dollars over what we were told in our first conversation and agreed to. We had to clear that up with her. On the day of the event, appetizers were to start at 3:00 with two waiters taking guest drink orders. However, at 3:30 there was still no food, and our guests were standing around with no food or drink for 45 minutes. And only ONE waitress. For the ENTIRE party. This waitress IS THE ONLY REASON I'm giving two stars. She was told a different start time than the one we had planned, and yet she worked tirelessly to make sure everything was salvaged. And she did it with a smile and had so much positive energy. If I were her, I would have just walked out the door after being so screwed over by her own management team. The food was great! Thank you, kitchen staff. I still don't understand how this miscommunication happened. After numerous conversations about our event- which was simple, no changes, very straightforward- where Kelly claimed she was "writing it down," it still started late and instead of attending to our guests and our baby and to the celebration itself, we had to deal with this stress. Kelly's unprofessional and defensive response made everything worse. Her excuse was that "she cannot remember every conversation she has with her clients" and said we were 50% at fault because we did not read the 7 page contract correctly... THE SAME CONTRACT THAT STATED THE EVENT STARTED AT 3:00 PM! So the only take away here is that you, the client, are not important and she cannot be bothered with you or your special event. Please keep that in mind. What could have been a beautiful carefree day had such a sour and bitter start. It's hard to have a good time when you're basically told, we don't care about you! I just want to stress again how amazing our waitress was (I think her name was Lindsey?) and the food and table settings were great. The management team needs...
Read moreUsed to love this this place (been here roughly 20 times in my life and was very satisfied). Brought the family over on Sunday for a late lunch early dinner. The waitress was completely unprofessional. We can start with the how rudely she "spoke" to our 7 year old & 2 year old. Right off the bat, she had an attitude like maybe she got stuck late with one more table & just didn't want to be there? In addition to a angry demeanor, not only did she not do her job well she didn't share the specials, even after being asked, brought rock hard bread to the table & didn't seem happy when we asked for a fresh loaf. Actually, she cut off my wife with "Are you going to place an order?" & dropped her arms down to her sides! She didn't bring water to the table...again, she was aggravated when we asked for some. She went to take a menu from the table at the same moment our 7 year old was reaching for something and she said in a snotty tone, "EXCUSE ME." That was enough. I asked her if we did something to offend her & she just said, "No, not all. Did I do something to offend you?" Do you just want a new waiter?" I was surprised that was her response so I just said, "Ok." A new waiter was sent over and was fine. One more thing that happened was that we ordered 2 Long Island Ice Tea's & one of them was straight up sour lemon water. I brought it to the bartender, who was very nice & apologetic explaining she had run out of the other necessary ingredients but that she would bring a new drink over once she had it all together. She handled things properly. My wife noticed the person we assume was the manager being informed, and what seemed to be ongoing conversation about the situation. But he did not come over to address the situation, ask if we were now happy, or just say sorry the was a misunderstanding! I felt that was a clear indication this was an acceptable way to operate their restaurant. We were thoroughly unimpressed with this Moretti's experience and absolutely will be sharing this experience with people & will not ever return to...
