We have ordered Eat Clean in our household several times over the past few months. Most of the meals lacked flavor and were overall not the quality we are used to, but we liked their mission of organic ingredients with no seed oils and ended up finding a few items we could put in rotation. All was well until we had to communicate with them for a minor issue.
I placed an order most recently on Saturday for several items, including 7 sausage breakfast sandwiches. I added a special instruction in the provided note space for well done/crispy sausages. I also sent an email to support politely requesting to pay separately for an extra sausage patty on each sandwich for delivery that Monday.
I got a quick, short, and cold response from Daine stating that they have no way to accommodate special requests “due to the nature of batch meal prep.”
It’s very surprising that a small local business would have no way to fulfill requests when they claim to prepare the meals fresh. You can go anywhere from McDonald’s to the highest end restaurant and simple modifications like this are very standard when you’re paying for someone to prepare your food.
This raises concern that the meals at Eat Clean are not actually fresh, but instead previously frozen or were already made prior to the 2 day delivery window. I have seen several other reviews that mentioned the meals going bad before the expiration date, but gave them the benefit of the doubt.
After receiving the order, I was not satisfied with the treatment from the support agent and the fact that another person on the Eat Clean team who prepared the order also ignored the note and just sent the sandwiches as they were, without attempting to contact me as a courtesy after I had already paid.
I sent a separate email to Eat Clean support following the delivery describing the situation and requesting a partial refund for just the sandwiches. I also attempted to work out special requests/add ons for future orders.
This email has been completely ignored with no response at all from Eat Clean, despite their claims of a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
It’s very unfortunate this situation was handled this way, as we have been actively searching for a meal prep solution and were planning to finally get on a weekly schedule with Eat Clean right after this delivery.
I realize the luxury of ordering weekly organic meal preps is not accessible for most people, which makes it very reasonable for our expectations to be met at this price point, especially in this economy. If you have similar standards, I recommend looking elsewhere for another meal service that values...
Read moreEat Clean PHX was quite a find for us. We had been using meal deliveries for a number of years as our primary source of dinner meals. First we tried several that supplied ingredients only, so meal preparation and cooking was still a requirement. After a while of that (several national services), we discovered that we no longer had time to fix dinner every night, so we moved to prepared meals. None of the companies we tried offered enough variety that met both my (garbage disposal) and my wife's (finicky) palates, while being tasty. We tried Freshly, Factor 75, Cook Unity, etc, in fact had 3 going at once because we could never find enough good meals from one of them on a frequent basis. We thus wound up choosing one (or two) on a given week and suspending delivery on the other(s). That became a nightmare to track, as the food would keep coming without our intervention (the plans would auto-select meals, often ones in which we had no interest), so we had to be on top of them every week.
Last August, we saw a billboard in North Phoenix for Eat Clean and thought, wow, a LOCAL meal delivery company? We decided to give it a try and haven't looked back. We kept the other services going for a while just in case, but ECP had so many delicious and varietal offerings that are also HEALTHY, that we found ourselves suspending all our other services every week and only ordering from ECP. They're a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for: the quality of the food is excellent. After a few months, we finally wound up cancelling our other services completely and use ECP as our only source of in-home dinner-portion meals. Between the two of us, that's 10 meals (or equivalent in terms of a la cartes), and often snacks, nearly every week (except holidays) for the past 9-10 months. That's $4500 to one meal service in that short amount of time, so that alone should speak volumes to our satisfaction with them.
I can't speak to their delivery service (we pickup our meals from their kitchen in North Scottsdale every week, driving from 45 mins away, so we must like them, right?) But the owners have been great to work with, as well. Ryan has been very responsive to e-mailed questions, getting back to me within the next day every time, and knows me by name when I walk through the door. It's nice to know that they care about their customers.
We're likely a top customer (in at least consistency if not volume) now and plan to be for the foreseeable future, as long as ECP keeps churning out great food options that are...
Read moreWe’ve had an overall great experience with them! They have wonderful communication leading up to the deliveries, and even though I had a few issues initially with some items getting delivered tipped over on their side, they rectified the problem and it’s not happened again after the first two times. You get to know the menu and the items that rotate, it’s a great variety w/ lots of new menu items, and even though there are a few meals that are not our favorite, the majority of everything we order is really solid. We stay away from items that have the grits or zucchini noodles as they both tend to get pretty watery in meal prep form, but overall it’s a great menu, and I love that so much of it is organic and they even source local when possible. We feel very good about supporting them and appreciate the low delivery minimum and willingness to come out to Litchfield Park/Verrado. I don’t think it’s possible to find a meal prep company that pleases every taste with every meal every week, but I’ve had a much better and much more consistent experience with them than any other company I’ve utilized. Whenever I recommend them to someone, I tell them to make sure they stick it out for at least three or four weeks to cycle through menu items just in case you start on an off week that doesn’t really speak to your tastes. I’m so glad we stuck it out after the first week or two because we’ve been so happy with them. It’s also made eating healthily much more accessible for my 18-year-old neurodivergent son who sometimes gets overwhelmed with preparing healthy meals. A much better option than DoorDash. Thank you guys for delivering a great local...
