I had been looking forward to Strad Pizza for months. I watched it being built and even went to the grand opening, which was really impressive. The vibe, branding, and overall concept are great. But unfortunately, when I finally went back to actually eat there, the experience didnât live up to the hype.
When we arrived, it wasnât busy and there were several staff members around. The guys working the oven were great. They were friendly, focused, and seemed to know what they were doing. The issue was entirely with the cashier, who honestly made the whole experience frustrating. They didnât seem trained at all, and I had to walk them through everything we ordered (it was a group order all on one tab). The process was slow and disorganized.
To make matters worse, they charged us for sodas, but then told us after the fact that they were out of stock. When we asked to take the sodas off the bill, the cashier seemed annoyed no apology, just attitude. After a several minute ordeal to process the refund, they demanded the souvenir cup back, which I totally understand but someone in our group had already used it for water, and they took it anyway. I really hope they arenât just rinsing and reusing those.
Food wise, it wasnât great. Some of the slices were overcooked. Not just crispy, but charred. The cheese slice was better, but everything else was forgettable. Definitely not worth $75+ for six slices and a couple garlic knots. On the positive side, the garlic knots and Nutella knots were actually really good. Soft, flavorful, and easily the best part of the meal.
The setup could also use some rethinking. Placing cooked slices directly on the glass counter right in front of customers who are ordering feels pretty unsanitary. Your pizza ends up sitting right where people are talking, possibly coughing, etc.
I wanted to love this place, and the guys working the oven definitely seemed like they cared. But one bad interaction and poor food execution ruined the whole experience. I wonât be back for slices. Maybe a full, freshly made pie, but even...
Read moreStrad Pizza is THE ultimate pit stop for pizza lovers & car enthusiasts. Iâm truly so grateful to witness the very 1st grand opening of hopefully many more locations! Not only does it serve up some of the best pizza in Arizona, but it also brings a unique and artsy twist to the pizza scene here brining all the good vibes. The building is a visual masterpiece, with vibrant car murals that makes for a sick backdrop for that perfect pic. If you love pizza and cars (who doesnât?), this place needs to be on your bucket list.
The pizza? Perfection. The crust is crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, just like the best New York slices from back home. The sauce is rich, tangy, and full of flavor, and the cheese has that perfect âpullâ⊠Iâm obsessed. While I think the pizza is goated, the real star of the show for me is their âcheesy garlic truffle knotsâ. This is my favorite thing on the menu, hands down! They are insanely garlicky, with the perfect balance of cheese and a rich truffle flavor, each bite had my eyes rolling back lol.
To top it off, the grand opening âcar showâ x âpizza partyâ was a total success. The Stradman and a bunch of his friends showed up, bringing along a lineup of some of the coolest cars youâve ever seen. Supercars to hypercars, it was a car loverâs dream come true. The event was insanely packed with badass cars & bikes, and the chance to see them all up close while enjoying amazing food made for an unforgettable experience.
I canât stress this enough⊠Strad Pizza is the total package. Incredible pizza, mind blowing knots, an epic car culture, and a cool vibe all in one place. If you havenât had the chance to go yet, plan a visit ASAP⊠you wonât regret it. Iâm insanely blessed & grateful I live here and can...
Read moreAs one of the OG followers of the Stradman's YouTube channel, I was excited to finally check out his newest venture. And it didn't disappoint! The pizza is a definite 10, nice big New York style slices, served ready up by the slice, or wait a few for a whole pie. I tried the garlic knots which were also fantastic with great flavor that wasn't overwhelming, as so many garlic infused items can be. You get to choose a drink from either their Coca Cola "Freestyle" soda fountain, or select a bottled beverage with numerous choices like IBC Root Beer and various Jaliscos beverages, to name a few. And if you left room for dessert, they've got a self serve soft serve machine spewing out Vanilla and Ube flavors.
The restaurant interior has a giant flat screen TV, and the opposing wall is adorned with a collection of glass set photos of cars from James' amazing collection of supercars, backlit with led's behind the headlights which creates an interesting effect.. Overall, it's a clean and modern design, nicely done but not overdone as is so often seen in new restaurants. It has a layout very reminiscent of the numerous yogurt shops that in the 2010's were seemingly everywhere. I personally found the colors of the chairs interesting, with the interior chairs finished in the same Orange color as his first Lamborghini Gallardo, with the chairs on the outside patio area finished in the same pinkish tone as his favorite supercar, the highly modified Lamborghini Huracan which James has lovingly dedicated to his late father, "Papa Strad". Nice touches.
Great food that's reasonably priced, a friendly staff, and a very comfortable environment that's not over the top. Check it out,...
