Very casual. A Locals kind of place. Good music. Owner very nice. Gets crowded later in the day. Wines are okay. Did a tasting there were a couple we liked. We sat at the bar and when people were coming in you could tell most knew each other. Nice conversations, humor, but be careful because some of the regulars are pretty judgy out loud. It was fun but towards the end they were making me a little uncomfortable. However, They were kind enough to make suggestions for finding dinner. Atmosphere was on the rugged side...but nice. Probably won't return though as I felt like one of the regulars that came in were starting to pick at us a little. Which is okay to a certain extent.... There are a lot of wineries around so... But you may really love it. Worth going to see.

In AZ for a long weekend, were just out sightseeing from the safety of our rental car, and decided we were parched after walking on a pretty cool trail. Google maps lead us here and we are happy it did. Sampled two of the local vodkas and a whisky, because that's a thing here! Ordered one of their no sugar seltzer beers, on tap (what, tap you say, why yes I do!) and the drink of the day, then pondered if the risk of a booze soaked suitcase was worth it to take some back on the plane. The Golden oak whisky, you try it and let me know if you aren't willing to give it a shot). Then being responsible Iowan's we grabbed our tab and were on our way. They constantly checked with us to make sure we had everything we needed, too bad we don't live here, this is a hidden gem.

Desert Rock Winery & Distillery was a great stop during our recent vacation to Scottsdale. We walked in fully intending to do a wine tasting which was amazing! The wines are made well, they finish perfect and have a great balance of flavor & tannins. We also added on a spirits tasting too, some really great Rum and Whiskey varieties.. My husband likes Bourbon and loved the options they had. I like flavored liquor so I tried the ones with vanilla, caramel & butterscotch, yum!! Paul was a great host and even when a larger group came in, he still made sure we were taken care of. The tasting room is a bit unassuming but had a fun & comfortable vibe. I highly recommend for both wine and spirits!

I went here based on reviews and pictures. I unfortunately went to the one in Scottsdale. It was basically a dark bar that I was hesitant to even walk in to, but I figured it must be better once inside. It wasn't. I came to see if I could do a wine tasting or order a glass of wine. The sign on the door says it's a tasting room. When I sat down the bartender sort of tossed a dirty, wrinkled cocktail menu in my direction and then never asked if I wanted to order something. He never said a word to me. I sat there for a while and eventually just walked out. I don't know if he's just prejudice against larger girls or if he assumed he wouldn't get a good tip because I was solo. I travel for work so I am usually on my own as I typically don't know anyone local. It wasn't just poor service. I felt stupid and out of place while I was there. I think that if you know people there you'll be fine. But as a stranger I really felt out of place and like I was...
