Being a Tempe resident for quite a while it was a genuine disappointment to move so far away from Las. Twice since we moved we have driven the 20 or so miles just to grab some delicious Thai that isn't overly expensive or commercial.
So when we learned they were opening a second location just 3 miles away from our new place it felt like fate. The owner and her family are really cool both her daughters are always working and have never been anything less than absolutely fantastic. They spend time in Thailand often including last year when they were gone for three or so weeks visiting family the food is awesome and authentic.
If you are looking for a place that feels like cheers, when you call them they instantly know who it is and what you're going to order and make you feel welcome and appreciated this is definitely the place they've been a part of my home now for years.
It is disappointing to see some of these reviews it almost feels like a personal attack. One person complains that it wasn't busy enough given that the new location has only been open for a month why does that even matter. Another person complains about the size of their plate and I promise you I've never even been able to finish an entree not because it's not fantastic just because their portions are huge. Another person talks about how the ice tea tasted weird maybe they've never tried Thai tea before but it's a super sweet black tea with half-and-half and I've literally bought a gallon of that before because they make theirs perfect! The other laughable review talked about the quality of service which in my experience has never been anything but welcoming unlike Thai basil the only other Thai restaurant in the area in which The owner is constantly rude and makes me uncomfortable. Ordering takeout there is always a crapshoot and there's a little boy who works in there who seems dangerously young to be working on my food
I know this was long-winded I've never actually written a review for a restaurant before but seeing the other reviews made me feel obligated to let people know to give this...
Read moreHorrible service at this restaurant. We went in after looking at the yelp review but was really disappointed. Lisa, the owners daughter had an attitude serving us and would not pay attention to what we asked for. Initially we were okay and nice even though the service was so delayed. We asked for a lime for the beer and it took her more than 10 mins to bring it and it came with the appetizers. We had to take the lime out of our water glasses and put it in the beer. Moving on to the food, the ice tea was "different" which we told her that it does not taste like ice tea and the response from Lisa was "our things are different". Then the food came and I would even give food 1 to 2 stars and we still had SMALL appetizer plates. We started eating and realized that we need larger dinner plates so we asked Lisa for larger plates and she said "okay". 5 mins later we still waiting for the plates while the food has been sitting there and we look at the counter to our surprise Lisa is doing something on the calculator.....totally ignored what we had asked for or they forgot what we asked for. We went up to her and asked for plates as the food has been sitting and she had a lot of attitude with worse customer service saying "I was caught up OKAY, we are BUSY". We asked for the owner and Lisa response was "I am owners daughter and my mom is in the kitchen....she is busy she cannot come" ..... she was very rude very unprofessional and no courtesy or customer service ABCs what so ever..... if you don't want to ruin your Friday night or any meal......please don't go there. They don't care about their restaurant or food quality or customer service. Can't believe how they are still...
Read moreI am so disappointed! I’m in Scottsdale for one night, love Thai and I was starving after a long drive. I read glowing reviews about the food and service. So, I gave it a shot. I got the satay, pad Thai chicken, side of jasmine rise and a Thai tea. The satay was rubbery and didn’t taste good. The peanut sauce that went with the satay was so thick, it was actually gross. Needless to say, I ate one skewer and tossed the rest. Not good! The pad Thai was very dry, and had the same gross chicken. It made me gag a little, and I really wanted it to be good. I love Pad Thai, it’s usually by go-to when I can’t decide. I hate to say this, but the frozen pad thai from Trader Joe’s is better, and I don’t like frozen meals. The jasmine rice was undercooked, so I tossed it out. The only thing that was good was the Thai Tea. I don’t know if it was just an off night for the cooks or what, but this was definitely not the best Thai. It wasn’t even good Thai. The lady who took my order was very nice. I tried calling in my order so I wouldn’t have to wait too long once I arrived, but the phone was busy for 10 minutes straight. I gave up and just drove over to place the order inside. Which meant I had to wait there for 25 minutes. I wouldn’t have minded if the food had been good. Man, so disappointing! And a waste of forty bucks because of course I made sure...
