I moved in May 2018 and since the week I’ve moved in I’ve been so unhappy living here.
Property Staff is horrible at maintenance request. I entered a service request on Aug 1st and staff didn’t worked it until Aug 7th. No one ever responded, no follow up to confirm my request was received, just a phone call seven days later saying I’m ready to complete your request. Wow, seven days later thanks, I could have done it much quicker myself. It would have been nice to get some sort of email or call saying we have received your request, IF, its going to take SEVEN whole days to complete.
Leasing staff is unprofessional at following up. You have to be on them if you want something done. They are so unresponsive. I've experienced many situations where my neighbors are very disturbing and I call the leasing office during business hours and they do not answer. My call is then forwarded to a central call center where they send a message to the leasing office, but even then I don’t hear back from the leasing office at times. I am becoming increasingly more frustrated with the noise from my neighbors. I can’t get a peaceful nights rest without being disturb or woken up. They’re up at all hours. I continuously hear heavy walking, kids running around, kids crying, loud music, talking on the phone and yelling from their apartment. I know my neighbors life story after living here for three months. I have provided SO many situations to the leasing office and they still don’t take serious action to handle them. Just two weeks ago I was woken up by my neighbor screaming through her cellphone I called Blue Shield, the security staff, since the leasing office was close and the rep from Blue Shield could hear my neighbor yelling through the phone. This community has the WORST NOISE transfer!
The only thing the property manager has offered, is to move me into another apartment BUT after my horrible experience with the property staff, dealing with immature and inconsiderate residents and having my apartment broken into at 330AM while I was sleeping, WHY would I want to move 3 times in 12 MONTHS. I would MUCH rather leave this community completely by a lease termination.
I’ve lived at Avion on Legacy and my BF has lived at Cresent at the Quarter which is now Broadstone and its just a completely different living experience than the Core. The core is FAR from “luxury living” the only “luxury” think about it is the rooftop pool. The appliances are just like any other you would get in NEW apartment community, so are the amenities. The demographic is more Phoenix /South Scottsdale. You have a lot of young adults, families with kids, and inconsiderate careless residents. I would NOT recommend living here if you hate hearing your neighbors inside your apartment, don’t want to experience your apartment or car getting broken into or deal with having drunk residents hanging around the community disturbing you. They actually encourage people to drink here with their "FREE beer and FREE wine" every Friday. This property has terrible management. This community is not a frat house and can someone explain the disco lights at night in the front of the building?
In addition, I am concerned about how frequently the Scottsdale police are at the apartment complex especially because we are left in the dark. I did bring this up to the Property manager and she said, "when the police are on site, this does not mean that they are here because of a crime. The police respond to a wide variety of calls.” Ok, because people call the police to say hey whats up, come to my apartment lets hang out. Obviously, residents are reporting suspicious or concerning activity or crime, and feel unsafe to be THAT inclined to call the police.
This is my real experience living at the core scottsdale. I wish I never moved here.
The main purpose of me sharing my experience here is because I wouldn’t want anyone to move to a new apartment community and experience what I have. I want people to be informed. Its been the worst 3 months and I have so much anxiety...
Read moreThe big downside with this place is all the corporate apartments that are being run as AirBNBs, probably about half of the hall I lived in. You can find the place listed on the website!!!! Although management will state that you can’t rent out your own apartment as a AirBNB but I guess if you rent it out as a business you can do what you want 🙄. Lots of new people with suitcases all the time wandering the halls asking directions and treating the place like a hotel rather than a place where people actually live. Kids running down the halls, people coming back late being loud and drunk in the hallways, you get the idea.
Also a big issue with people leaving their trash in the hallways all the time which in the summer means the hallways always smell like rotting trash and leak into to the hallway carpet, gross 🤢. Plus the valet trash service is always dragging the leaking trash through the hallways. The Pool is always shut down for repairs, everyone speeds in the parking garage and almost causes accidents, so many issues with people not disposing of pet waste correctly or bringing glass to the pool (literally almost every other communication from management), and lots of lost packages. Cell service is non-existent and will drop if you are not near a window. Plus very limited guest parking if you have anyone visit so people just let them into the parking garage that is suppose to be secure and for tenants. Also they have some of the slowest elevators I have ever seen. Did I mention the cops are always here? Definitely don’t leave anything of value around here cause it will be gone!!!
It’s a nice place but expect to pay the equivalent of a mortgage to live in a hotel with a fashionable zip code. Lived here for 3 years and decided it would be a better idea to just buy a place. There is about $80-$100 in additional fees on top of your rent each month and your lease will raise about $250 each year for a 15 month lease (more for shorter terms) and its about $4000 to break your lease if you ever needed to. Plus a $75 charge if you lock yourself out after office hours because the keys are all electronic fobs.
The maintenance staff are great and probably deserve a raise, they were probably the best part of this complex but the office staff is really only interested in leasing new units and they respond less than half the time to emails and are impossible to reach over the phone. Gave me a super hard time when my electric fob stopped working due to a battery connection issue and was trying to get a new one after 2 years.
Beware with Costco next door it can be next to impossible on the weekends to turn out or into the complex. And the big parking lot in front of the complex is the overflow lot for the Tesla dealership so it can get sticky if they are using the big trailers to deliver vehicles. They have threatened to tow anyone that parks in their lot so beware. Also it’s fairly busy area because of all the stores so expect lots of traffic, noise, and activity while they are open plus the airport is nearby so you will...
Read moreI've lived at The Core for nearly 3 years. To start with the positives: the amenities are nice, the pool and view are beautiful, and personal maintenance requests are typically handled in a timely manner. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end.
There have been multiple safety concerns during my time here. A cleaning lady I did not hire or know entered my locked unit without permission. I left a voicemail for the office, being that I was home getting ready for work, and never received a call back--they only acknowledged it when I called again, stating they already knew about that and they were sorry.
I also experienced harassment from another tenant and suspected items went missing from my unit. After pushing for it, maintenance replaced my washer and dryer. I even installed cameras in my own home for peace of mind. Then, while alone with a staff member in my unit, I was met with inappropriate comments that left me feeling deeply uncomfortable.
More recently, management deactivated my key fob due to another safety concern. While I was notified via email, I hadn't acknowledged the message--and yet the office closed for the day without making sure I received a new fob. I was locked out of both the building and my apartment for over an hour and had to rely on neighbors and emergency maintenance to get back inside. While they waived the emergency fee ($75), they refused to offer any other concession despite everything I've experienced.
The building itself is in poor condition. The hallways are often damaged and dirty--I've even found feces in the carpeted interior halls. The outdoor breezeways constantly reek of dog urine, especially in the summer. Police are regularly on-site, and on several occasions, armed officers have been outside the building.
The units are poorly ventilated, especially in the kitchen. The smoke detectors are overly sensitive, and the above-stove fan is essentially useless--it doesn't function effectively, and despite maintenance visits, nothing has improved. I've been told by maintenance staff that most residents tape up their alarms just to keep them from going off constantly. After three years here, I can say that even with the detector taped, simply using my oven will sometimes set it off. I have to open windows, turn on fans, and stand at my front door fanning the air just to prevent the alarm from blaring.
There's always something going wrong. Even my friends comment that every time they visit, there's a new issue--whether it's a broken water line, strange smell, or some kind of disturbance. It's become a running joke, which says a lot about the living conditions.
Communication is lacking, management is reactive instead of proactive, and residents are left dealing with the fallout.
The Core may look good in photos, but the reality is poor management, lack of communication, and ongoing maintenance and safety issues. Rent keeps going up, yet conditions continue to decline. If you're considering living here, I'd strongly suggest...
