This is going to sound over-the-top in describing a retail store but working with the Bungalow team over the last several months as I began an unexpected journey of redecorating my home has been a blessing. Sure, the furnishings (and clothes!) are some of the most unique you will find anywhere (and often are literally one-of-a-kind) but it's the experience the team at Bungalow creates that led me to use a “feeling” word to describe it here. The team includes so many awesome individuals but I have to call out Laura (my first Bungalow-bestie and one of the kindest most fashionable humans I've ever met), Suzy (the GM who makes you feel like you're the only person that matters when working with you), Jeff (who you want to even briefly weigh in on any design decision because I'm pretty sure he has a vision for every piece in the store) and Benny (who manages the warehouse team and makes sure everything you buy is delivered to your car – or your home if needed – with the utmost care). I also use the word experience in describing shopping at Bungalow intentionally. You may not even notice it but no matter where you go in the store there is someone to help, or not, if that’s your jam. And if you need advice, they’ll make time to listen and often call in another team member for an opinion which is awesome because everyone on staff has a different background in retail and/or design. When I started working with Laura, it was about staples. As staples turned into room design(s), Suzy and Laura teamed up to make sure there was always someone to bounce ideas off of, in store or even via text. Some days were about light fixtures and bedding, others about art, books, pillows (I had no idea how much pillows can influence design!), pottery, or other vessels (which I also learned I loved). And it was never about what I spent, only buying what I love (Suzy’s mantra to me), even if it wasn’t what they initially suggested. Sometimes the process of elimination as I found my design vision was the path to finding what I love. Like I said, it’s been a journey - and a blessing. Not in the amazing pieces I bought but in the things I learned, the people I met, and the joy in the process that I stumbled upon during a season of life I was initially really overwhelmed in. Today I find myself walking around my house, smiling, and thinking I just love my home. I even bought a sign that says “I love this place” for a bookshelf. From...
Read moreBungalow has a great selection of products, brands, etc, but we were shocked by the lack of customer service we received. As soon as we entered the store, we were greeted... and greeted again... and again. What we experienced felt extremely pushy to the point where we felt guilty for not purchasing something. This is not the experience that we as customers were hoping for. We went to the counter to pay for the goods that we had selected (or thought so) and the person ringing us up did not go over each item we had agreed to, therefore when we got home we noticed there was an item in our bag that we did not want. On this day, all sales were final. We quickly went back to the store to explain that we never agreed to purchase this particular item because it was the wrong size. We were then mocked and laughed at by the team at Bungalow. Seeing as though we NEVER agreed to purchase the item it felt extremely unfair that we were treated so poorly when we would have ideally liked our money back yet we were forced to purchase something else. The person checking us out again reiterated that it was final sale. All in all, great store, but the staff was far too pushy and does not go the extra mile to make the customer feel special whatsoever. We will NEVER be back...
Read moreAs a designer, I’ve loved this store for years. Recent experience changed that forever. Robin usually helps me - she’s a treat! Unfortunately, she wasn’t working on my most recent store visit. Young man named Timothy stalked me throughout the store. He tried to pass himself off as a “designer” which was a riot -the boy has no discernible taste or design skills. I’m not sure if he was trying to sell furniture or a date - repeated inappropriate comments about my appearance including my “sexy blouse and hair style”, as well as twice telling me he was attracted to older women and was experiencing trouble with a girl he was dating. When he wasn’t leering at me, he was constantly looking at his phone and texting people. I couldn’t shake him and his smooth talk -don’t try to talk me into buying things that my clients would never, ever go for! I wanted to take a bath the minute I left the store! Enough said. Linda, your store is better than this but I refuse to return until this terrible representative is no longer present. Same goes for my entire...
