Our two families went to dine here on the evening of 01/26/2024. When we walked in, we got excited because the restaurant looked nice, there was a fire burning and it smelled like mesquite. But later I noticed the mismatched chairs, like at some backyard party.
Our server was, how shall I say? Uncharismatic. She took our orders, but didn’t write anything down. That’s cool if you got it like that, but she didn’t, she had to come back to ask a simple question that wouldn’t be needed if she wrote things down.
Usually, items from the kid’s menu come out first, because kid’s need it. Not here, it seemed like those dishes were forgotten, because a quesadilla and some nachos aren’t complicated to make. Those plates came out way last. When my wife’s friend when to ask if they were coming, the server basically shooed her away and said they were coming out. That looked really bad.
I had the Tampiqueña plate and I was underwhelmed. The plate was $30 and the menu purports the skirt steak as being “marinated”. If I had to bet money on this meat, it tasted like it only had some salt on it. My wife’s mole tasted more tomato based than anything, not good, she didn’t finish her food.
My friend’s plates were sad. My friend’s wife ordered the seafood tacos and they were literally miniature. My friend’s enchiladas weren’t good either.
The refried beans were dry and the Spanish rice barely had any flavor, and was dry.
The portions were very small for the price and the service was substandard. The portions were so small we were joking that they looked like the portions you see in high end gourmet restaurants, only this food lacked the taste.
We will never...
Read moreWanted to treat my wife to something nice, so went here for our 8 year anniversary.. wanted to like this place more than I did. Some of the food was absolutely phenomenal and some was just meh. Largest issue was the inside of the restaurant was approaching 90 degrees and it was absolutely miserable inside (thermostat read 88).
I was pouring sweat my entire meal and it was quite miserable. The food was alright (got the enchiladas del Mar and steak) ordered the steak med rare and it came without any pink whatsoever. The side of veggies didn't have a drop of seasoning, no salt, pepper, oil, nothing. So very, very bland. Literally no seasoning at all though. Elotes were phenomenal but quite disappointed they can't cook veggies similarly or a steak to temp (i hate sending food back since it winds up as waste but this was the first and only time I sat and contemplated it). Instead I persevered through a lackluster steak to prevent waste. I almost wonder if it became well done just from the ambient temps since it felt like a steam room.
Beotween the environment and the order getting overcooked, we normally give places the benefit of the doubt but this was very hard considering the sweltering atmosphere. Don't think we'll bother again
Really wanted to like it. We were talking if my in laws would like it when we went in. The temps inside are too miserable though. Spent 150 to sit in a sauna and lose my appetite. I saved almost all my food since it was too...
Read moreWe wanted to eat outback as most people were doing so as it was a nice day, but we sat down on wet cushions from the rain the night before. No one checked it out before seating us. 3 of the 4 chairs at our table were very wet. Then we were brought chips and salsa and water. She said she'd be back to get our orders. It was quite awhile. We had finished the chips and salsa and water over that long period. When she finally returned she said I didn't get your orders yet did I? So we gave her our orders. My boyfriend ordered a normal drink served at most places, that they apparently didn't serve, but she didn't know that I guess, so she said she'd get it. His drink never came. When he finally complained over a long period of time about my getting his drink or our food, she said oh I guess we don't serve that drink but the food is coming soon. It was kind of crazy lol. Our food was just ok. Guacamole seemed kind of bland. Tortillas were good. Beans weren't very good. Owner/manager was nice and did what he could to make all the unfortunate events better I give him props for that. When we wanted to leave we had to track down our ditsy waitress as she disappeared again. We caught her just eating and talking about her personal problems to another worker. I found it all kind of horribly comical but my boyfriend was not amused so I don't see us returning, which is too bad because we used to frequent this place a couple years ago and just decided to start...
