Our experience at Segway of Scottsdale was beyond our expectations. Matt, our guide went above and beyond to make our experience something special. There were 4 in our party and two others in the same tour. Matt took the time to make sure everyone was comfortable and ready to roll! Unfortunately one member of our party hit a curb and fell near the end of our practice time. Matt was quick to help and after making sure things were ok he got a motorized bike to replace the Segway. As we were ready to depart the person took another fall and again Matt was immediately there to assist. We decided three of us needed to leave the tour so the others could proceed and we could take our person home. When we returned to pick up our remaining participant the tour was just returning and we could tell they had had a wonderful time. Matt allowed the two of us who returned to pick up our participant to get on once more and at least get a picture to remember our experience. Later I received a call from Jason from Segway checking on our injured party. We never expected what came next... we were offered a refund for those who were not able to take the tour! The one person who completed the tour was very impressed with the tour, the amount of information about Scottsdale, and the ease of learning to ride the Segway. Great guide, great company...
Read moreMy family and I were extremely disappointed with the lack of knowledge & unprofessionalism of the guide and the terrible customer service provided by the company as a whole.
The guide’s commentary was neither factual or contain any historical merit. For example, it does not take 250 years for a Saguaro cactus to grow an arm. Furthermore, he did not instil any sense of confidence or safety. Especially since at the time of the accident, one of our group members pointed out to the guide that he was not wearing the mandatory helmet.
Approximately 3 minutes into the tour, two members of our group were injured and unable to complete the tour due to the extent of their injuries. When the owner of the company and another employee came to retrieve the Segways, he did not inquire about the well being of those injured, even though the injuries, such as road rash, were obvious. He did not offer to refund any of the tour cost to the two people who could not continue. His only comment was to the two injured members, stating that they were choosing not to finish the tour, clearly to indemnify himself from the situation.
The company did not follow up with us after the tour except to ask for a review of our experience. Overall, a very terrible experience and I would never recommend...
Read moreFirst of all, I LOVED learning to ride the Segway and it was amazing. With a short lesson it’s easy, it DOES work the feet and ankles but easy. Small group of 4 was nice. I wish our guide AJ knew more about the area. No Scottsdale or Old Town history other than passing by some statues. He even got the names wrong on the Camelback trail - Echo Canyon (not black canyon). He was pointing out cones and shopping carts in the water. I didn’t fly all the way here to see trash in the water. Statues, canal, sundial were all pretty cool. And he did that okay. I gave him some feedback at the end and another guide walked by and said “it was incorporated in 1951.” Looking at Wikipedia it says it was started in the 1880’s in the area where old town is now. Anyway. If you are going for history - read about it first. If you want to play on a Segway do this. Hubby enjoyed. I wished for a bit more info. Walking back into town we saw the Mission Church ourselves which would have been a nice stop too. When I gave AJ the feedback he said he had only been doing this a week! Again, good for a ride and tour of Old Town. Not much in the...
