I’m writing this review with regret, as I feel it’s important to address poor service when it occurs. I have been a loyal customer of Luci’s since 2015, starting at the Bethany Home location, when Andrew Aranda was the manager. His exceptional service is what kept me coming back.
Since moving closer to this location, I’ve continued to enjoy their 32oz chocolate protein shake and have occasionally ordered breakfast. On two occasions, I requested the breakfast number that includes two eggs, specifying that I wanted them “scrambled well done.” However, both times I received the eggs cooked omelette style. I didn’t raise the issue at first, but when it happened a third time, I brought it to the attention of one of the younger female managers. Her response, that this is simply how the chef prepares the eggs was frustrating. I asked to speak to another manager, but she returned and continued to dismiss my concerns before finally bringing out a new plate of scrambled eggs.
Fortunately, Weston, another manager, handled the situation with professionalism. He was respectful, offered me a refund, and provided a gift card while explaining that I should specify “home scrambled” when I order eggs. This clarification was helpful, but I wish the first manager had taken the time to explain it to me earlier.
While I appreciate Weston’s efforts, my experience with the initial manager left me feeling undervalued as a customer. It’s disheartening to think that such interactions could harm Luci’s reputation. I don’t wish for anyone to lose their job, but I believe it’s essential for management to train staff effectively to ensure a positive customer experience.
I’m reluctant to give a one-star rating, especially because of Weston’s exemplary service. However, I feel compelled to do so due to my experience with the other manager. I hope this feedback leads to constructive changes that enhance the overall experience for...
Read moreLuci’s at the Grove in Scottsdale is fantastic local treasure! The atmosphere and layout are outstanding, with a lovely patio area that's perfect for relaxing. The service was great, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive visits from Marco, who I assume is the manager, not once but twice to ensure everything was okay. He was very friendly and genuinely wanted to make sure we were satisfied, which we all appreciated.
Three of us ordered the frittata, which had a nice presentation, but to be honest, it tasted a bit bland. Some added sea salt and pepper from the kitchen would have elevated the dish. Of course you can salt to your preference at the table, but it’s never as good as when it comes out of the kitchen, and all too often restaurants just have iodized salt available. Also, the tomatoes on top were cold, put on after the frittata was cooked, which I could not understand, they should have been roasted with the other ingredients, or at least put on half way through the cooking cycle. One of my guests had the French toast, which they enjoyed, but I found it too thick for my preference. I prefer thinner slices made with a good sourdough.
I wish my frittata dish came with a small side of fruit and some artisan bread or toast, which I think would have justified the price. As it stands, the prices seemed a bit too high, especially when adding in drinks. I would have liked to have tried one of their fresh made juices, but $12 for 20oz was too much money and too much volume. It would be nice to see a bit more value added to the meals.
Overall, I love Luci’s and have been coming for a few years now, but this was my first visit to their Scottsdale location. It's refreshing to support a locally owned restaurant rather than the large corporate chains. Despite the minor issues, I'll definitely be back and recommend you check out...
Read more5 stars because of Marco! Food was good too! You order at the counter then choose a table. We choose the patio because it was a beautiful day. Although it is summer, Luci's does a great job with misters and fans so outside at noon on a hot summer day was surprisingly comfortable. There was a line at the counter but it moved quickly and the mimosa I ordered was at the table just as soon as we sat. We wanted breakfast, I chose the breakfast sammie and my husband chose the Grove Omelet. The breakfast sandwich was plain (no tomato or Avocado) but the diced ham was delicious with just the right amount of cheese and fluffy scrambled eggs. My husband rarely eats his potatoes and thought they were so delicious he finished them all. He liked his Omelet too and it was complimented with with fresh fruit. All in all it was a yummy breakfast and I would give it 4 stars. I chose 5 stars because of the amazing customer service we received from Marco! While he called himself a "bus-man" he was so much more! He walked from table to table, engaging with customers and making sure they had everything they needed. I told him his new title is, "Director of Customer Relations." He truly wants your dining experience to be the best so you will come back. I know we will especially because of Marco! Also for the good food but mostly for the EXCELLENT customer service! Thank you Marco! You deserve a raise! If I owned a restaurant you would be my first choice to run it! So refreshing to have the service like you treated us...
