Maui Fish House — Restaurant in Scottsdale

Horrible customer service at Shea and Scottsdale location! I have been a customer for many years and always had a great experience especially with the staff but I had never come accross these two! The guy started yelling at us when my baby had an unexpected accident and told us we had to clean it up because it was my “fuckin kid.” The lady also got in my face and started yelling when we told them that they didn’t have to be so rude about it. They were both using profanity towards us and even called the police. Apparently she is the owner’s wife and that is her son. I spoke to the owner, and like I told him, I don’t expect anything from him or from the company but it is truly sad to have to run into people with attitudes like this over an accident that I had no control over and and top of that to have a manager/owner back him up for something that he escalated to the point it got to. There was some things said by my spouse that I do not agree with and I told him in that moment to settle down just as she should of told her employee but instead she took the problem’s side. We were excited when we moved to Phoenix because there was a coconut fish cafe in Scottsdale! We are from Sacramento and the location there closed 3 years ago. We sat on the outside patio with our 5 year old golden doodle. We ordered, staff was very nice. Then after we received our food and eating, I gave my pup a small piece of mango off my fish taco. A middle aged woman with brown hair and a dark tan, who I assumed was the manager (this women did not introduce herself to us at all, so who knows who she was, physical description is the only way to identify her) came over and said this section of the patio we could not have our dog, and to not feed him from the table. She was very rude about it. We took our dog to the Sacramento location patio several times, and never had an issue; they would even bring out a water bowl for him. I feel really bad leaving a negative review because I love this restaurant and we were loyal regular customers to the Sacramento location. The Sacramento location was owned by the restaurant founders daughter and son in law. We met the son in law several times, super nice and friendly. I have seen these around town for several years and never stopped in. GLAD I DID TODAY!!!.. From the moment I walked through the doors I was greeting like a long-time regular customer. Great Start (an seemingly rare these days). The staff was patient with me since I had never been there before and walked me through the different options. I ordered the Spicy Poki and Fish & Chips. Given the price point here, I didnt expect much to be honest. The Poki portion was high-quality, generous, cold with the perfect amount of spice. The fish and chips (Mahi - Mahi) were unbelieveable. Good portion of high quality FRESH white fish with a super thin/cruncy batter. Not sure what's going on here, but this place and its owner/staff have it together. I watched the staff constantly wipe down tables, greet customers, etc. (and it was BUSY) The condiment shelf (I always check those) was SPOTLESS - No built up crud on the bottles, etc..... Someone is paying attention here and I have not seen that in a fast casual setting in some time. Needless to say, I will now be regular customer!
