My best friend and I came here on August 12 around 830pm after a beach day, as it would be his birthday at midnight and I wanted to grab a bite. The glowing 5 star reviews are what convinced me to try it out. There was no mention of take-out only until arrived and saw the sign. Ok.
We ordered a combination plate (F1, which is pork fried rice, beef teriyaki, egg roll, boneless spareribs) as well as: -egg fried rice with bean sprouts -sesame chicken -crab rangoon -garlic ginger broccoli
We also ordered two of the boba smoothies: strawberry and mango.
It all came out to about $65. We waited for a while but she brought out our drinks, which were really tasty. When the food came, I asked if we could sit and she allowed us to sit at the one table inside.
-The rice didn't have much of a flavor to it, I couldn't taste the eggs or the flavor of the rice, it may have been burnt, although it looked good.
-The broccoli did not taste of ginger or garlic, I don't know what it tasted like but it was not pleasant
-The sesame chicken was the biggest let down of it all. There's a review that says they do all of the common dishes well, that's not true. Sesame chicken has a sweet taste to it, which this one lacked. It had a tangy and salty flavor which was really just not good.
-His boneless spareribs were purely fat so he couldn't eat them -The teriyaki was the worst he has ever had (we eat a lot of chinese food). I didn't try it myself but it looked grey rather than brown. -The egg roll was burnt and had a foul flavor to it -The pork fried rice was not good -The duck sauce, his favorite part of chinese food, was bright red, and had a strange flavor to it (it was unlike any duck sauce I've ever seen. It almost looked like sweet and sour sauce, but it wasn't)
There was a fly that kept pestering us at the quiet table. No bathroom there, you have to use the dirty bathroom next door.
When we left, both of us had a stomach ache within 10 minutes of leaving there. That night and into the next day, it continued to worsen and we had to take medicine to keep from getting more ill. This was a huge shock to both of us, and I felt like the worst friend ever for bringing him here thinking it would be a good time, where we could sit and enjoy the atmosphere and maybe even have a drink to celebrate his 40th birthday.
The reviews said this is the best chinese food outside of boston. That is the biggest lie ever, I could name 3 places in north andover alone that have flavorful, trustworthy food. This is coming from someone who has gotten sick from chinese food before (from my old favorite place in lawrence which has sadly since closed), but the food there was actually delicious, so I took the risk and trusted them again in the future and everything was fine. Not this place, you couldn't pay me to return here, even if we didn't become sick due to their food.
We literally gave away our food to a homeless person on the way home, this is before we knew we would be end up being sick. I will give this place 2 stars because at least the lady who took our order was very polite, and she gave us each a free bottle of water on our way out, which was very kind. But still, I would avoid this place...
Read moreWhat people like about McDonalds is you know what you’re going to get and it’s consistent no matter where you go 99% of the time you get exactly the same thing and it’s consistent and most McDonalds. So I wanted to get my classic consistent Chinese food that I know and love but sometimes it’s hard because you’re not really sure if the Chinese place you’re looking at will have the same consistent thing you’re looking for. Some places have variations and not all places are that good classic Chinese dish. So I found this place and was hoping to get my classic Chinese dish (chicken and broccoli) and it was exactly what I was looking for! Perfect. So if you’re looking for your classic Chinese dish this place probably has it.
On a side note the service was absolutely exceptional the lady who helped me hooked me up and was unnecessarily kind and hooked me up with extra values. She gave me some kind of green tea for free. I thought when she gave it to me (oh great I probably won’t like this and it will be a waste) but it was actually ridiculously good and free.
So that compelled me to write this review. Great job Jinhui!...
Read moreAs.a repeat customer, they are the best of the best my wife loves this place and I love this place too. Not because I am chinese, I compare this chinese restaurant to other chinese restaurant this i the best of the best! I love the food. In the beginning when they first opened. I been going there every single day/ every other days and every weekend. But since we had our new born we were busy so we didn't come here often but as we both recovered from the baby with sleepless nights and we love our baby. We come back here again! Seriously, reading the one starts, two starts review. YOU GUYS ARE RIDICULOUS! REALLY? FEEDING THEM TO THE CROWS? SO DISRESPECTFUL and RACIST! If you didn't like their food then give it to some one else to eat. THAT IS SO DISGUSTING! Overall I would give this place more than 5 stars...
