I'm not going to lie reading the review aout small porion size confuses me still. Just because it was absolutely amazing we ate their twice. During our two day stay. So let's go over the details:
Portion size: portions are made for a single, standard human to consume each meal with some left over. If you order something like the pancit (either version, I prefer the rice noodle) you can share an app and entree. The apps are generous. I'm 350lbs and I was plenty full.
Price: anyone complaining about price is cheap. Their prices are resonable considering you are getting a freshly prepared, to order keal not a dollar burger. If you go to a burger joint and get a combo you're going to spend roughly the same amount. More deluxe meal slightly higher. 100% worth the money
Taste: If you have not had Philipino food (I had not, my lovely dinner companion had) I suggest this so much. I have eaten most places in Searcy and Little Rock. This is the best in Searcy and among the top 5 in Little Rock. (I'm a trained chef). The Adobo entree served with garlic rice might be one of the best things to ever cross my lips and I've eaten at 5 star restraunts and had chefs custom prepare my meals. The soup Mami was so nutrient rich but light flavored that my very ill mother was able to keep it down for her first solid food in many days. The steam buns were not my favorite, but were very good as I don't like steamed buns. The dumplings were great. I cannot recommend the Lumpia enough. My 4yr old nephew loved the lumpia, broth from the mami and his entire dish of pancit canton (I think it was. The egg noodle one).
Service: they were great. No one hovered but they were prompt when we needed things.
Comfort: I'm not fond of solid metal chairs. Comfort was my only complaint as I'm hippy and they weren't comfortable for me.
Decor: so peaceful, so beautiful. See for yourself. Don't let the outside of the building, or it's location fool you. The inside is clean, well kept, and lovely.
Overall: 4 1/2...
Read moreI love the food at this place and I've been coming to this restaurant for years. But recently the service has really gone down hill. To the point where I'm considering not coming back again. I always order Adobado with bell pepper subbed out for other veggies due to an allergy. Both of the last two times the waiter brought out Adobo instead. When I pointed out it was the wrong dish, he argued with me and insisted he brought me what I ordered. I know those dish names sound similar, but if you work at a Filipino restaurant, you should know the difference. Especially if the customer points directly at the desired dish on the menu as they order. The second time this happened I had to wait 2 hours for my food; and when the correct dish did finally come out it lacked any vegetables. I pointed it out to the waiter and he shrugged and walked off. I pointed it out to the manager and he shrugged and offered no apology. On that second visit we also waited over half an hour for drinks; we actually got our appetizers first. There was only one or two other tables that evening and they were pretty much done when we came in. Half the dishes at our table were made incorrectly with the waiter attempting to gaslight us that each one was correct (for example he tried to insist twice that a dish was House Yellow Curry when it was obviously just chicken; and no one at the table ordered Chicken Yellow Curry.) And most abominably when we left the manager sent the waiter running outside after us to tell us they forgot to charge for one of the appetizers. That's right, half the table didn't get the dishe they ordered, we all paid full price, but the restaurant chased a member of our party down for a...
Read more   Read moreOur first time to eat at Whilma's, suggested by co-worker and others. My husband and I were hangry after each had hectic work days. But YES- Whilma's dishes ARE as amazing as others rave! Dish/food presentation is like a fine, upscale restaurant. The tables were marked sanitized when we walked in. Server wore a mask. All appeared to be orderly and clean. In pic, Pancit Canton, Chicken, mild heat, minus red/green peppers. Pancit Canton had so many flavors it was hard to stop eating! We also ordered Tapsilog, which the marinated pork was a delight like nothing I tasted before. We enjoyed Tapsilog so much, we started eating b/f remembering to take pic. The garlic rice Lumpia taste is hard to describe but you want to grab another and another after eating one! (So addicting!) Also in pic, the Yellow Curry dish was also very tasty setting the bar high! My husband ate every morsel! The Fried Dumplings were a perfect start of introduction of the flavor variations for meal. The sauces and spice levels were customizable to preference. The young man who was the server was very knowledgeable about all sauces, spices, and dishes. We were able to order in confidence with no issue after brief visit. The atmosphere was casual, small town diner but the food taste and food presentation was very fine, definitely upscale. I am on a low carb, no sugar diet as many others I know... I have no idea how many sodium, carbs, fiber, sugars, protein grams that we ate b/c nutrition info is not listed; however, this will def be one of top pics on my cheat meal list! Be aware that hours end earlier. 11am to 7pm (seven!). Closed...
