We stumbled upon this place driving around looking for something that called to us, and wow was I glad this is where we stopped.
The employees were so friendly. There’s no paper menus but the QR code clearly defines each dish. We got the vegetarian platter which came with a piece of injera for each of us, a glass bottle of water (no ice) with 2 cups, no utensils (per norm) and when I asked about each dish the super friendly guy there explained each. The cook was really cool too.
The bathroom was tiny, clean, and I the peeks I got of the kitchen showed a clean environment.
The complexities and layers of flavor in each dish was just lovely. You get everything in the menu I screen shotted for the largest veggie dish for $25 - which is a SUPER reasonable deal and fed us both with a snack for later, not a large amount of leftovers but a good snack.
I had no clue collard & spinach went so well together but I’d eat Gomen at home all the time if I knew how to make it. The Shiro was very much a hummus reminiscent dip but with a very different flavor. My least fave was the Key Sir and that’s just a personal beet thing but we still smashed it.
We also had coffee which was strong and dark and delicious.
I can’t wait to go back and I recommend this to anyone interested in trying Ethiopian on a beginner level, they’ll help you out - if you’re a connoisseur try this place too! Freaking impressive & delicious.
PS: I love that there’s a couple of tables to sit at in front...
Read moreAhadu is truly a gem when it comes to authentic Ethiopian cuisine, and it may very well be the best in town. We were introduced to this restaurant by our legal advisor, and from the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, who also happens to be the chef. She took the time to personally recommend a few dishes from the menu, which made the experience feel even more personalized.
Our food arrived promptly, and after just one bite, we were convinced we needed to order more. The flavors were incredible. We tried the Tibs, a savory and perfectly seasoned beef stew, and the Kitfo, which is a spiced ground beef dish that was unlike anything we’ve tasted before. Both dishes were bursting with rich, authentic flavors that transported us straight to Ethiopia. The quality and taste were truly exceptional, making this one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Ahadu is a must-visit for anyone who loves Ethiopian food or is...
Read moreUpdated review: Ahadu has the best meat dishes around and really amazing food. I was disappointed last time I went because I was charged a hidden 5% fee. Also despite ordering 2 combos we were only given 2 pieces of injera and charged for extra pieces. Most places offer more injera. While I plan to come back I hope that they reconsider the service charge and maybe be a bit more generous with the injera and veggie portions. The veggie combo was on the smaller side. Portions have definitely shrunk.
Old review: Incredibly welcoming and kind people serving amazing food. It was a great experience all around. A friend and I had the meat combo, we added an extra injera because our eyes are far bigger than our stomach. We ate as much as we could but still had a ton of food leftover. Finished with a delightful coffee and a fry bread. The coffee is must needed to reduce the impact of the food coma approaching. Can’t wait to...
