my boyfriend and i went out for some drinks. when i initially ordered a drink, i complimented the blonde bartender’s skeleton shirt and she practically rolled her eyes at me. at the end of the night, when the tab seemed high (like $20 a drink high) and we asked the blonde bartender about it, she said “i’m sober, i’m good at my job, i know what it i’m doing” in the most snotty, bratty, shouldn’t-work-in-customer-service voice i’ve heard in awhile. we weren’t questioning her ability to do her job, just wanted to see the breakdown of the tab so we understood. we paid the tab in full. to be clear, i NEVER raised my voice or spoke to her rudely. i went to my car and realized there was a jeep parked behind me, so i went back in to request that the owner move the jeep. the bartender then berated me again for asking about my tab earlier, repeating that she was good at her job and i shouldn’t question her. i stayed completely calm and explained the (already paid) tab wasn’t a problem, i just wanted to get my car out. the bartender and a random patron (who had 0 context of the situation, just a nosy lady) raised their voices at me, treated me like a piece of sht, and were extremely hostile even though i was talking in a normal tone and trying to be civil so as not to escalate the situation. based on how they were talking to me, bystanders probably thought i did something bananas. i couldn’t get a word in edgewise, just two people yelling at me for no good reason. they were saying i needed to leave the bar; while again, i was trying to leave, just trying to get out of my blocked parking space. definitely don’t drink here if you want a bartender who is cool and won’t sht on you for the tiniest thing. she made a mountain out of a teeny tiny molehill, since when is it rude to want to see your receipt? would be a cool spot if it wasn’t for the entitled staff and...

Read moreThe Pine is a legendary 'Dive bar' in Northgate.
This area is surrounded by so many wonderful bars in the adjacent neighborhoods and those are all fun too...
However my adventures always seem to begin and end at this wonderful place I happily call a home away from home.
The bar staff is kind and personable, Elly, Evan & Taylor are standouts, clearly the best bartending team in North Seattle! You know you'll always be greeted with a smile and a good drink.
Patrons here are relaxed, lots of local retired folks. Feel like that contributes to a very comfortable and relaxed vibe to bask in. Lots of jokes and banter to be enjoyed.
Weekly trivia and karaoke nights to spice things up.
The kitchen is always staffed with great cooks, the menu might be a bit limited these days (breakfast is only weekend mornings now) but the food is always made with love and has that pub / greasy spoon aesthetic that you want in a place like this.
If you've ever skipped on this bar - think twice and come back. It's a...
