I found the food fine and fabulous! I enjoyed the Vegetarian Combination, which was very good. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with my reception, which was rather icy. As a tourist from out of town, I was tempted to leave immediately as it seemed as if I was unwelcome. Unfamiliar with the restaurant's rules, I stood for what seemed to be an eternity, all while receiving what I thought to be hostile stares. Just as I decided to leave, a server approached, seated me, and provided a menu, with very little conversation. I felt uncomfortable and quickly ordered the vegetarian combination, which also arrived quickly. It was delightfully delicious and beautifully arrayed atop the Injera. It may just be a cultural thing, but it would be wise on the part of management there to be aware of travelers and tourists who should at the very least, be greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome. Had things happened more happily, this experience would have been rated excellent. The only thing good about this visit was...
Read more“Alert!!” 🚨 I was a regular visitor to this restaurant and I used to enjoy their delicious food...until I came to learn something horrific and gravely disturbing issue. Most of their employees inside the kitchen are elderly men and women, who came from Ethiopia and Eritrea to visit their children. The owner of the restaurant take advantage of the the elderly people’s lack of knowledge of local rules and pay them as little as $8/hr (in cash). The work is so laborious and often very unsafe, with wet surface and hot ovens scrambled in a tiny place. This is no less than grave human abuse and cheap labor exploitation taking advantage of ones’ age. If you decide to go there, remember that the food you eat there is prepared by the elderly who are being treated in a very inhumane way. With that, I call upon the concerned authorities to look in to this issue as soon...
Read moreJust the most bland Ethiopian food I've ever tasted. Hell, I didn't even know Ethiopian food COULD be bland until I came here! About the only thing that was tasty was the fried injara.
Not only the taste, there just wasn't the amount of food you'd expect for the price. Very sparse. I think a bit tip off that the place was going to not be impressive at all was that the only Ethiopians were drinking at the bar. You know the thing where if you see more Asians at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is good? Same thing applies with Ethiopian food.
Believe me, I hate writing one star reviews but it was auch a disappointment to try this place. Don't waste your time at Enat and go to Jebena just on the otherside of the building and across a street. I guarantee you all YOU WILL NOT BE...
