Totally giving this restaurant, pie establishment a ZERO THUMBS DOWN! My daughter and I arrived and were not even greeted until we asked the gentleman at the counter who was more focused on the young woman he was talking to, than any customers. He started off saying there was no place to sit unless we went out and around, he then told us he wasn't serving us because the person who was supposed to come in to cook had not come in to work. He didn't offer to serve us a coffee or even water and more so, he never even asked if we wanted a slice of pie or cobbler as they were displayed in separate cooling units in the display case in the wall. We wondered, how long had the single servings of desserts being displayed, been in the cooling units already. I was appalled that our party of 8 could not at least have tasted something already prepared but instead we decided on taking our business elsewhere. Whomever hired the ignorant goofball to sit and represent their business needs to really check himself! He was not the person you leave to represent your business . He could care less about pies or anything in that establishment. I was embarrassed as I had several out of town foodies with me and we were all really looking forward to enjoying your restaurant's menu of pies and other lunch time delights. Eating at a black owned business was #1 on our bucket list to attend and unfortunately, I don't think any of us will ever visit your eatery again. We were all planning to take multiple desserts home with us and it didn't seem to cross his mind what we wanted or needed at all. So on hospitality alone you ranked a Fat ZERO! To me, how I'm treated and acknowledged is my #1 critique and that decides for me, whether or not they will ever see my face or one damn dime of my...

I placed my order online and while it was a little arbitrary when I could pick up the pies, a quick phone call cleared everything up. I visited and picked up my order of a medium sweet potato pie as well as sweet bean, tropical chess, pumpkin pie, peach cobbler, and apple pie tarts. All of the pies were delicious. The crusts were rich and buttery, and some were nice and crispy. The sweet potato pie was the right amount of sweetness and the spices were not overpowering. The tropical chess had an intriguing mix of coconut, lemon, and lime flavors which did evoke a tropical vibe. My favorite overall though was the sweet bean pie. I have never had a bean pie, but I've gotta say I wish more people sold these things because it was sweet and had a wonderful blend of spices - evoked fall flavors. One thing to note is that the pies come in three sizes: regular, medium, and tart. The medium size is maybe 5 inches in diameter and the tarts are the size of the plastic ramekins that you see ketchup and tartar sauce in. The sizes may seem small for the price but the flavor is worth it. I personally think $5 to $7.50 is a fair price in Seattle when you see cake slices from higher-end places going for about $5-7 as well. One last thing to note is that the person I talked to, Guyana (apologies if I got her name wrong), is extremely friendly and personable. She made me feel very welcome. I recommend paying a...
Read moreI havenât been here to eat. However I lived in this used to be house as a child. My grandma lived here for a big chunk of my child hood. I have so many memories of running all through and around this building. At one point my father lived on the top level, my grandma lived in the mid part and my aunt lived in the bottom. All three parts were different apartments. I watched them build that walk over bridge from scratch. I was there before they started building that walk over bridge by the Franklin Track Field. It was a beautiful house back then and Iâm so grateful that it was purchased and utilized as a part of the community and not torn down. I had my own room upstairs I used to watch the old car wash at night into sunrise. When I think of this house I remember my grandma peeling potatoes in her chair in the living room with her potato peeling knife. Running up and down the stairs from level to level. Playing in the small plot that was the backyard. Just so many memories. I moved out of Seattle as I grew up but I donât live far. I plan on visiting one day, hopefully I donât cry when I walk in and look around. This was always...
