I was really excited to take my Wife here because we both enjoy Ethiopian food very much. When we were first walked in we instantly got hit with a whiff of delicious Ethiopian cuisine, the aroma of different stews and meats cooking in the kitchen, smelled amazing.
The woman that was working there told us we could sit anywhere which was really awesome because they had a very nice ballroom styled room, which included a lounge area that was off to the side of the room with a projection screen, and even a concert stage where bands must be play, perhaps? I'm not entirely sure. We decided to sit on the stage itself where there was one single table with flowers and candle, very romantic atmosphere might I add.
The same woman that sat us down was also our server as well, which was fine. Although I think she could use some assistance because she kind of left us hanging several times during our visiti, but I'll get to that later. So, she takes our order, both my Wife and I already know what we wanted, we ordered Sega(beef) Tibs with 1 order of Spinach, 3 hardboiled eggs, and 2 sides of goat cheese. The food didn't take long thankfully because we were very hungry, we were ready to eat. Overall the flavor of the Sega(beef) Tibs were great however the meat was very tough, chewy, and hard to eat unfortunately. The spinach however was absolutely delicious, I would probably just order a few of those next time because I'm not a fan of tough chewy meat. While we were indulging, our server just kind of disappeared, it was clear that she was swanped and overwhelmed with online orders. Meanwhile, in the middle of our meal we have already used our 1 napkin that was given to us, our faces are a complete mess, and we ran out of enjera practically after the first two bites of our food. I literally had to get up from my table and ask her for napkins because our table wasn't being tended to unfortunately. There was only one other small family sitting a few tables away, at the bare minimum she could've at least dropped off a few more napkins.
So after we finished eating our meal both my Wife and I had to use the restroom, and oh boy it was a bad experience! First of all there were NO PAPER TOWELS in the Men's and Women's Restrooms, ON TOP OF THAT the water coming from the sinks were ICE COLD!! Not only was the bathroom completely unkept and disgusting, but the water was cold! How Is this appropriate during a global pandemic? That is unacceptable! So that tells me that you are preparing food with ice cold water, that is NOT okay! And why no paper towels in either Men's or Women's Bathroom? Is there a shortage on Paper Towels? Its unacceptable and completely disgusting! I will never return here ever again. There are so many other great Ethiopian restaurants in the Seattle area,...
Read moreNot sure what happened. used to be my favorite Ethioian restaurant. overnight, it has become my least favorite. All lentils were way overcooked, like porridge. Misir wat had no spice. And worst was Doro wat. They had the best Doro wat before. not anymore. The chicken was overcooked, seems like it was cooked outside and dropped into the wat which was just cooked for few minutes, could smell the raw spices instead of the hours long cooked wat. The Doro tibs had no spices and overcooked rubbery mess. How can it go from the best to the worst is my question. Either the chef and management changed or the chef had a terrible day that he decided to take it out on the restauranteurs. I am done with this place. Will visit back again in a year or 2 IF things improve. Normally, used to be packed pretty well on a sunday evening around 7PM. Not a single soul other than our family. Goes to...
Read moreThis wonderful gem of a restaurant will surprise you. Upon entering you are greeted by rich, earthy incense and a bright, golden-colored interior. It is far roomier than you would ever expect from the outside; in addition to the main dining room there was a much larger back area with a stage. They were easily able to accommodate our party of eight. The traditional food was delicious. Six of us ate family style sharing the chicken, lamb and the beef combos on one large injera covered platter. The flavors were all rich and savory and three combos were more than enough food for six people. Our servers were friendly and attentive and when it came time to pay the bill, they easily split it multiple ways. Check out Cafe Ibex, you'll be...
