I first heard of Jewel Cafe because I am a frequent visitor to Jewel Box Cafe up in Northgate (the one at Thornton Place). This location is owned by the same lovely people. This location is in a good spot, since it is right next to the Mt. Baker light rail station and major bus routes. This is important to me since the cafe general manager allowed me to hang up my art for the month. This is something this cafe will do every month. Such an awesome opportunity for local artists! Overall, highly recommend the food and drinks, they have sandwiches, breakfast wraps/sandwiches, bubble tea, tea, coffee, and more!

Edit: they've improved quite a bit and it wasn't so bad but since they have been closed for over a week now they are likely permanently closing. I do usually have slightly above expectations of coffee shops but have gotten more relaxed about it over the years but getting a coffee this morning with a bunch of grounds in it rather isn’t how you want to start a Monday especially when you spend nearly $8 on the drink (a couple extra shots of espresso) not including tip…

this is the worst cafe in seattle. they open and close whenever they want, most days they don’t even open at all. they take 15-20 mins to make 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches when the cafe is EMPTY and that’s IF they have the ingredients. All they do is take up space. Please close down so we can get a coffee shop that actually opens.

DO NOT GO HERE THEY STEAL FROM THEIR CUSTOMERS i’ve gone here a few times the only reason i ever go back is because of the location and every time i make that mistake im reminded why its a mistake. half of the menu is never available. their coffee isnt good and last time i went to this location was the last time i will ever make that mistake again. i ordered a latte and the barista tried to make it and turns out their espresso machine stopped working, frustrating but i can deal with it. first she offered me an iced latte and i said id rather just a refund. she struggles for a minute and then says she doesn’t know how to give a refund and her manager will have to do it. i’m pretty frustrated by this but i realize i can’t do much about it i ask how long it will take and she says it will take 5-7 days for me to receive a refund. at this point im pretty livid but she reassures me i will get my refund. turns out they never refunded me. could i call and potentially get my money back, maybe but here’s the thing i went into a coffee shop for coffee and they told me id get my money back instead now suddenly im in charge of making phone calls and holding the owner accountable. i didn’t show up to this place to have a scavenger hunt with my money. i’d rather spend that energy warning other people not to shop here. i hope this shop goes under soon so someone else who knows how to run a business can take this space over. i’m so tired of being told they can’t make anything on the menu including the...

Friendly staff, excellent drinks and food. They even have reusable cups and plates! The wifi is fast, and the music is good, but not too loud to focus if you need to get work done. It is right next to the Mount Baker light-rail stop too! I almost didn't want to leave a rave review so it won't get crowded, but it was too great to not show my support!!

My only suggestions are to get large reusable cups for cold drinks like bubble tea for people eating in, and to have a compost bin. They are new to the location though, so these things may be addressed soon. : )

I'll...
