Bamboo Thai replaced Thai Ginger which was a great neighborhood staple for many years and the food was great and staff too! This place is expensive for Thai Food and the portions are small(about 2/3 of what Thai Ginger served. The first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt on the portion sizing but have eaten here or ordered out 4 other times, not wanting to leave the neighborhood and the food is just okay, but the portions are definitely small and the pricing well above Thai Ginger and other Thai restaurants in Seattle. It was so nice having a great Thai Ginger close by but I won’t be ordering from this place again.
In response to the owner. I have no reason to take the time to write a review unless I am trying to inform the public about something I think is important about a place that I have received service. We can agree to disagree about the fact that your portions are smaller than the previous Thai Ginger whose spot you moved into and they are definitely NOT BIGGER than anywhere else in the city. Don't Lie it makes you...
Read moreWORST THAI RESTAURANT IN SEATTLE! WORST FOOD! Rude manager! The server was a nice lady who asked us if we want cold or hot water. I asked for a cup of hot water since it was a little chilly and we were sitting outside. She brought the hot water in a mason jar that had no handle. I noticed that the jar actually was broken at one side and could have cut me. The server apologized and then brought my hot water in a glass. She explained that they didn't have any cups for hot water. I ordered Phad Thai with tofu. The food had an awful smell and taste. I asked why does it have a strong fishy taste and that I wanted a vegeterian Phad Thai. That's when the owner came over and rudely reprimanded me of not ordering it vegeterian. Then she replaced it with another one. This dish tasted so bad that I almost spit it out and left it untouched. I have gone to many Thai restaurants for many years and this restaurant doesn't serve Thai food or perhaps the cook needs to go back to cooking class. Don't waste your money there. You'll...
Read moreBeing that it was already 8:30 the night I ordered to-go from Bambú, I only ordered Fresh Rolls. But that alone made me nervous.
I’d learned from an elderly Thai chef in Dallas about 30 years ago to not accept gummy rice paper wrappers from anyone; it meant they’re NOT fresh Fresh Rolls. I’m glad to report Bambú’s weren’t made an hour before I’d arrived. It’s something their Madrona Thai restaurant competitor should follow.
And what Bambú could learn from that competitor is to add more than iceberg lettuce and a protein source (I.e. tofu, shrimp); I craved cilantro and other ingredients in Bambú’s Fresh Roll. The roll was bland.
The sauce for dunking my roll into wasn’t appealing. It was an overly-glutenous soy sauce concoction. Is this REALLY authentic Thai like that non-authentic review which read like those Amazon uses to prop up products?
As others have attributed, the woman who hosted Bambú was very gracious. Since it’s so close, I plan to return for a regular meal at an earlier hour. Maybe they’ll...
