Red Onion Tavern — Restaurant in Seattle

My friends and husband went to this bar about 2-3 weeks ago. We are all very busy people and we were happy we finally got out of the working routine. What spoiled our night was the bartender as he ( a tall guy) was very rude and to be honest racist or high or both. As soon as we arrived there he started to pick on me and talked to me like I was a long friend and I ignored him. After few beers, I tried to do the same and he basically kicked us out of the bar basically saying we were drunk and told us don’t come back. We did not say or do anything wrong. All of us (6) could not believe that and he was even selling beer to a couple of white guys who couldn’t even stand up properly while he was being highly disrespectful to us. The bartender (I believe Linda) was great. Easy to talk to and prompt drinks. Normally I would have given this place 4 stars for being what it was. Simple dive bar to have beers, play some pool, and sing karaoke.

Im reviewing 2 stars because apparently some "regulars" were upset that we were ruining their night by requesting sillier up beat songs by Miley Cyrus, Blackstreet, Nysnc, Destiny's Child etc as compared to regulars and their down tempo rock songs. I get it, you want to rock ballad your sorrows away. But when you walk up to our group and tell us we aren't welcome here? Thats a huge load. Im not sorry that half the bar was dancing when our songs came up and everyone sat down when your turn was up.

The place was good but the man in our service was extremely rude. He asked for our IDs and twisted my ID 4-5 times to check whether it’s fake (I look and am way older than 21) and denied my parents’ ID (who are well over 50). He didn’t even return my ID until I had to literally yank it out of his hand. He seemed a little drunk (slurring and not walking straight) and I could not imagine why he would treat us like that until I realized we were the only brown people in that bar. I don’t put such an accusation lightly but it’s the only plausible explanation to me for such outright denial of service...
