EDIT: I read the owners reply to my review to a coworker and we both genuinely laughed at the slightly passive aggressive tone. Obviously not every customer is perfectly happy, that’s why I wrote mine and I am a customer. That’s the point of public, community reviews.
Came at 1pm on a Saturday- the line was moving quickly, and I had my sandwich in my hands about 5 minutes after arriving. The man at the counter taking orders was pleasant and friendly, very kind.
I ordered the Fortuna. The prices are high; it was 23$ after tax and before tipping. The sandwich is a handful, but not big, and probably not enough to split/share. I was surprised at how expensive it was. Everything was fresh, the focaccia was crisp and salty, I was eager to wolf this thing down.
But despite all the nice fresh ingredients, I could only taste truffle Gorgonzola. Every bite was one note, and every ingredient lost the flavor battle to the pungent cheese. I was pretty disappointed, especially after spending so much, and by the end I was forcing my way through every bite of the thickly slathered cheese sandwich. There were spots where I could taste the deli meat a little, but not enough.
They had several other options without the truffle Gorgonzola that looked great, but I’m afraid the price point is too high for me to...
Read moreThis shop has been eagerly anticipated by my fiancé and me (he visited last week, and I dragged him back today for my first visit). Honest truth? My first bite made me cry, it was that good. The bread is the perfect thickness: a little fluffy, but not overpowering the delicious fillings.
Sandwich 1: Fortuna– This is the one made me cry. The olives, lemon, and truffle Gorgonzola are perfectly balanced. Every bite was heavenly.
Sandwich 2: Bottega– On first bite, I didn’t love this as much as the Fortuna, but the Calabrian chili-tomato relish builds in heat and makes this sandwich an absolute showstopper. Honestly, I can’t pick a favorite between the two and can’t wait to try everything else on the menu.
We did debate whether to get one sandwich or two (price is around $20 each), and after tasting, we both agree: the quality and flavor are completely worth it.
The line looked long at first, but it moved quickly—about 15 minutes to order and 5 minutes to get our sandwiches. The staff was incredible; they even brought around samples of bread in olive oil while we waited.
I’ll be dreaming about these sandwiches until my next visit! Can’t wait to try...
Read moreI had the Bottega and it tasted amazing, I could tell that the ingredients were very high quality. It is pricey (26 dollars after tax and tip for a sandwich) butm for the experience, it's worth it. The line was long but moved pretty fast, the actual wait is after you have ordered. The size is decent, not the huge and filling size like Valhalla but it made a good lunch for me, and I'm a big eater. I interacted with the emloyees there just for a little bit but they all seemed to be very nice. Atmosphere is so-so. I don't think they aim to keep people sit down for a long time so minimum investment was made to the dine-in option. I do think the restaurant can lower the tip choices a bit if they want to encourage people to come back regularly. Right now 18% is the smallest tip option even though there's no table service. The price is already quite high to begin. Still gave 5 stars for how good the sandwich was. I don't see myself as a regular but will come back maybe once...
