Herkimer! First off, the coffee is outstanding. You can see that magnificent roasting machine is right there in the shop. The magical bean smell lifts your heels 2 inches off the ground. I’m a simpleton and the drip coffee does it for me every time. Although I change it up between their blend, Kenya and Ethiopia varieties. Yum yum! And second, and more importantly, the people working here are what make this place so special. It’s truly a community. Shout out to the entire crew: Ginny (Best giggle in King County) Clara (their tattoos are 10/10!) Emma (running the show like a boss!), Jackie (repping the east side) Joey (the next crim J scholar), Ziggy, Dani, and everyone I missed! The neighborhood is brighter because of you.

As a recent-ish transplant to the PNW, it’s been a joy to try out all of the amazing coffee of the area. That said, Herkimer did not hold up to the hype. I’ve visited this location twice, each time ordering a cappuccino and a cortado (the standard by which I measure most third wave coffee shops’ abilities: can they foam the milk skillfully, wet or dry foam, can I taste the roast of the beans, what’s the flavor profile, etc.) The first time I got a very average cappuccino with a bit more acid. Honestly, I could’ve had the same quality from Starbucks. Knowing ats a local favorite, I have it a second chance a few days ago. Same exact “meh” experience. The staff are all friendly, but their coffees are pretty boring. Disappointing, because I always want more amazing coffee shops to visit. :-(

I remember walking into Herkimer for the first time, when it was the new kid on the block, and being so impressed with their straightforward offerings ( no foo-foo drinks here) and the quality of the espresso... No bitterness. Great coffee combined with their clean, modern interior made me an instant fan. Two decades later and I'm still a fan, though I live far away now, I visit whenever I'm in the neighborhood. They continue to make great espresso in a beautiful coffee shop... One thing that has changed is the decline in the number of coffee houses... Once a Seattle trademark, sit down shops are harder to find. Don't hesitate to give this shop a visit... It's a true Seattle gem.

The OG! This is their original location for 20 some years strong. Love the coffee and they have so many options. It’s fun because it’s a partially open design and you can see into the roasters and behind the scenes. Otherwise it’s a kind a diner feel mixed with traditional coffee shop vibe. There’s a bunch of different indoor sitting options and some outdoor. Staff is super nice and down to earth and easy going. There were a lot of other friendly patrons there enjoying drinks, working and hanging out. Wonderful shop I highly recommend. Fast service and comfortable atmosphere. Thanks!

Herkimer is a verified Seattle treasure. I’ve frequented both the Dexter and this Phinney Ridge location quite a bit and have always found the coffee consistently delicious and the service exemplary (at both locations). Mostly I’ve ordered their espresso in various forms and cold brew and have never regretted it. The staff has great attention to detail, knows their stuff and works hard to deliver a great product. I want to give them high-fives, but there’s a pandemic, so five stars it is. A trip to Herkimer is often the highlight of my day!

Excellent latte, friendly and fast service, reasonable price...Herkimer Coffee sets a high bar for local coffee chains. There was a short line when I arrived in the morning but it moved very fast as there were three baristas working to handle the crowd and they were very professional in what they do. Definitely appreciate that! This location has several tables inside and a nice corner window with bar stools. Lovely seats outside in the street as well.
