Breve, Ristretto, and Americano was $15 and 20% tip makes $18 total. If an Americano is $3 that makes the Breve $6-9 and Espresso $6-9. Hmm. Well, for the quality of the coffee and foam it was worth it IMO. However... duhn duhn duuuhn!... the cafe is very, very dirty. And I don't mean dirty as in there's a little dirt from doggos here and there, I mean it's covered in layers of dirt, grime, Infinity Gauntlet dust, dog hair, and what I'm assuming is literal hippie granola. In complete honestly I was worried about bed bugs after sitting down on the cushions (yeah, that level of yuck). I say that in the kindest way possible because the trainee Barista was supes nice and made a mean espresso (with the added difficulty of explaining a hemp milk breve to the barista and the owner [who was as dishy as ever]). But, the ambiance inside the cafe was closer to a homeless encampment than a cafe. Went here almost daily a decade ago and sadly my standards have risen to where I refuse to risk an incurable disease just to get my morning coffee, no matter how good the foam, beans, or espresso is. Location needs a nuclear level cleaning and redecorating. But again,...
Read moreI was excited to try Makeda & Mingus because of the good reviews, but it was a letdown for me. I was searching for a new neighborhood coffee shop. I wanted to quickly grab my coffee and start reading. First, I waited forever despite having only one person in front of me. As I waited, I looked for a seat, but it wasn’t that inviting. It was very small, stuffy and a mishmash of aging cushions and kid’s toys. When I finally ordered, the barista wasn’t very welcoming and curtly took my order. “Aw man, she must be having a bad day,” I thought, but the drink didn’t make it any better—now, I don’t think my standards are high when it comes to coffee, so for me to notice anything means it must have been really off. When I finally got my cappuccino it was completely burnt, had no foam and was undrinkable. One thing after another had piled on and I felt so uncomfortable that I just wanted to leave. I wish it would have worked out because the neighborhood seems to love it, but it wasn’t the place for me. To be more positive and helpful towards whomever reads this (and is likely looking for a coffee shop) Fresh Flours ended up...
Read moreOne of the coziest friendly coffee shops in the greenwood area! The owner is very friendly, and knows her regulars orders by heart. The sense of community and support is nice here. Not to mention the cute doggies that pop in from time to time. It’s quiet enough to focus on work and school or reading. The owner plays music at a low level so you can focus on your work. Thursdays the owner makes dinner for the community and it was sooooooo goood!! I come through here a few times a month and every time is amazing! The owner really cares about her costumers, quality of her products and invests in her community. She has local artists art on the walls for purchase. They have a bathroom, little reading/ hangout nook toward the back of the shop. I typically order a London fog or lotus and it never disappoints! They offer a good selection of pastries and scones. They have a water station near the door, so no need to ask for water, you can just grab some. I love supporting a small business and a women...
