Warning! This place will try to force you into giving them more tip regardless of the service, or lack thereof. Two of us dined in on Sunday, we weren't given water/tea or menus for 10 minutes and were left to just sit there with nothing. Without even a word of apology, the server drops off a tea pot and gives us our menus. Once our order was taken we recieved the absolute bare minimum in service (our food was dropped off). No refilling our tea, no checking if we needed anything, not even seeing if we needed the bill. After waiting awhile we understood no one could be bothered to check in so, we got in the register line to pay our meal. I left a very small tip, not because I appreciated the service, but because in the end someone has to clean up the table. But when I attempted to pay, the cashier had canceled the payment stating I needed to tip... I inform her that I did tip in accordance to the type of service that I was given. As I attempt to pay again she rejects the payment stating that my tip wasn't good enough for her because we dined in. After receiving their non-existent service she has the audacity to say that we must pay a minimum of 15% gratuity. At this point I no longer wish to leave a tip, I pay and then I am met with my receipt slammed on the counter. Incredibly unprofessional service, immature, and disgusting behavior. They obviously do not understand that customers are not obligated to tip, we do so in order to show appreciation for the service we are given. I work hard for my money I will not give you extra tip just because you feel that you deserve it, especially when you don't know how to give customers...
Read moreI thought Seattle has good Cantonese food, including dim sum, so I decided to pick a place to try. Ended up picking Homestyle 来来点心 because it opens early and has HK milk tea.
I have never seen a dim sum restaurant set up like this, but like nostalgia vibe. There is also a bakery counter for things like sweet sesame ball (煎堆), deep fried donut with pork (foot ball) (咸水角). I have no idea why Seattle area translates 咸水角 as foot ball but find it interesting.
We sat down, a lady took our order, and brought over the dishes when they were ready. There was no dim sum cart or paper menu to mark off your orders. We ordered chicken feet (5/5), spare ribs (5/5), shui mai (5/5), beef rice roll (4.5/5), beef stomach (3.5/5), and iced HK milk tea (5/5). Everything was flavorful and cooked well, other than the beef stomach, which they have it more crunchy while I like the soft stewed texture more. The beef rice roll has larger portion than the usual size I see. My husband got a "foot ball" to go and liked it too.
I am very happy that we tried this place, and left with a satisfied belly...
Read moreThis was far one of the worst experience I’ve had with Chinese food. My friend and I went to have Dim Sum early in the morning , we arrived and were seated in a nice quiet area. We were almost done eating when my friend realized that on the Chinese broccoli there was a worm !!! We made the server aware and she acted like there was nothing until we showed her. We asked her to call the manager but she never did. I went to look for the manager myself and he was understanding and took care of us, so I give props to the manager. Anyway when I left to use the restroom my friend who is Chinese told me one of the ladies said to him “don’t ever bring her here again. Doesn’t she know that this is normal in China” ?? This is completely unacceptable for her to talk like this to her customers. I’m never coming back here. So please stay away unless you want worms...
