First off my friend always gets the red curry here and swears by it. He was talking to me on the phone a couple months back and says "Uhhhhhh yeah I just ordered red curry..." I was surprised because of the anger and frustration in his voice so I said "I thought you loved their red curry?" And he said "Yeah but I got a wife and kids so everytime I want red curry, I've gotta order food for the whole family. My red curry ends up costing like 80 bucks" But he still orders it He's also a good father I think I didn't get the red curry even though I'm pretty sure I'll try it next go around I get sloppy for that Panang curry at every thai restaurant I can't help it Bit of context I've been having like a very rough month and a half And my body and digestion ain't been great And my heart hurts a lot too Which... I mean Ends up with me ordering unhealthy food and perhaps drinking a little too much Which I know I know Is not helping at all and feeding the cycle Bear with me Hippocrates (is said to have) said: "Let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food" And also sometimes I believe that When your body is demanding something Maybe you need it And my body had been thumping it's spear on the floor rhythmically shouting CURRY CURRY CURRY But because of tummy troubles I had been afraid Because spicy hadn't been making me feel good But finally the shouts from within had become too overwhelming so I gave in Got a Panang curry And a Thai iced coffee to be a baaaaaad Took it home and put the rice into a bowl Poured the contents out of a familiar plastic container First thing I noticed about the rice was the consistency I'm a white boy from the suburbs I'll make no claims to know what I'm talking about Just anecdotally it felt right for Thai food And I also liked When I poured the curry on How it wasn't watery and didn't immediately seep into the rice (The ride absorbing the curry is undoubtedly pleasant but it was nice that the process happened over time) So I had some lovely pools of curry on top of my rice as well as saturation I took a bite Recall how I said my heart felt hurt? I don't care if you believe me this is true: I felt warmth in my heart first Before my tummy I ordered two stars out of four Because like I said I'd been sensitive There was still a kick I got a little tiny smidgen runny nose (Always a good sign to me) But the flavor was full force it was there It didn't rely on spicy to be good it was just Flavorful, full, welcoming, embracing It was exactly what I needed On a biological level It made my tummy feel good too It felt healthy and hearty and tasty The Spartan with a spear inside my guts demanding curry Was satisfied but forget him I was satisfied very much It helped me get through that day in a big way More importantly very very tasty Very very good I think you should eat here too Next time gonna get...
Read moreCraved Thai food in Rainier Ave and found this one close to my place. Over the phone service was great. When I walked in to pick up my food since it was to go, paid and right before I left, I opened the bag to make sure I had all what I needed (utensils and sauces) to eat the Phai Thai & crispy prawn and glad I checked because there was none in there.I asked the person at the reception for what I was missing. He flipped on and said said I ‘can only do one thing at a time, just wait. I patiently waited and told him to take his time. When he brought everything I said thank you but you know we don’t have to be rude and I just asked for the things that I need to eat food with. He stared at me for seconds and started screaming what did I do what ya?! What away start enjoying my meal. Customer service doesn’t matter 100% at restaurants. Doesn’t matter how good the food is if the service is terrible I am...
Read moreI remember coming here before the pandemic and the food was tasting better. I came back to try the lunch combo and was left feeling disappointed. The meal looked more appetizing than it actually was. The flavor was just lacking. The Pad Thai came out sort of mushy and I could taste a lot of ketchup in the sauce. The curry didn't taste like anything special. Maybe it was too diluted with coconut milk.
They are open for dine-in but we were automatically charged 20% for tip. Not sure if that is an new policy but they didn't even notify us.
Maybe I came on an off day but I'm hoping I will have a better experience next time since this is one of the only Thai...
