Went here on a weekday craving fish and chips, saw the 4.5 rating and said sure let's try it out. Pretty neat building, I like the layout, we sat upstairs because the lower area was full. It took a really long time for a waitress to come up and greet us after we sat down, and another long while for her to come back and order drinks for us. Another bit of time passed, and we ordered the caesar with a scotch egg on the side and two orders of fish and chips. We wanted the salad first, and then the fish and chips after. Nothing came for awhile, we both were getting close to the bottom of our drinks then everything came at once. The scotch egg was tasty and the salad was pretty decent, but the rest of the food was cold by the time it got to us. The peas were some of the best I've had, they weren't overly minty like most peas. The fries had potential, they were the kind I really like but all of them except for the ones insulated by the fish on top were cold. The fish itself was a big disappointment, not only was it cold also, but the batter wasn't crispy at all and it was pretty greasy. We asked for refills on our drinks when our meal arrived, and the drinks didn't arrive until we were both almost done eating. We didn't complain at the time because we weren't sure who to even talk to and were both exhausted and not feeling confrontational and just wanted to go home. It was confusing because we had two different waitresses. They took a very long time to take our cards and pay for the meal also, which, after all that, just sucked even more. With a tip, we walked away paying 90 dollars~ for all of that. I felt and still feel like I got ripped off. I went to spuds the next week in greenlake and got the same meal minus the salad and scotch egg and it was a million times better and cost 40 dollars for two people. We almost went to spuds before deciding on macleods the first time, we won't be making that...
Read moreI like Macleod’s Scottish Pub, a lot. The ambiance of the bar is cool. The bar is lined with tons (and I mean, it's almost too much to take in) of whiskeys, scotch, and other liquors. The bartenders are super helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to scotch and whiskey, so feel free to pick their brains, that's what they're there for.
We've had flights here, and their selection is such that each complements each other. They also have cocktails in case you want to foray into the world of whiskey and scotch, but don't want to do a face plant as you make your way to the door. They also offer a decent selection of beer and wine. There is also food, but I can't comment on that since I've never made it to that section of the menu.
So for those who are curious or want to take their whiskey and scotch knowledge up a notch, definitely come by Macleod’s Scottish Pub, it'll be...
Read moreWe stopped in after wandering the Ballard market. We were looking for a drink and some good food. This place has both! The fish n' chips was outstanding. It was truly some of the best I've had. The batter was light but substantial with an excellent crunch and seasoned well to boot. I decided to try something different with mine and ordered the curry dipping sauce. It was an excellent take on an old standard. The tarter sauce was also good but I found myself going back to the curry. The whiskey on offer was good quality with a decent selection. I tried an old fashioned as well and it was really good. The staff here obviously prides itself on quality ingredients and quality execution. We will...
