We love the food at New Leaf and have been loyal customers for some time, but I am very sad to say, we had the worst customer service we've ever had anywhere, when we ordered a work lunch through UberEats yesterday. UberEats did a fine job in delivering our order, but New Leaf gave us someone else's order. When we called New Leaf to get our correct order, there was never an apology, they argued in Vietnamese on the phone three times (2 times we were disconnected), the third call they started arguing with each other again. Then we were asked to come and pick up our order. That was the last straw for me. I explained we were not able to, and that is why we paid to have our order delivered through UberEats. Then we were asked to give back the order we had received. Then we were told their cook never made our order. Again, never an apology or offer to make things right. I asked because of the issue this had become if we could have a complimentary item in our order. They said no we don't do that. I lost my patience at this point and told them to keep our food and we won't be doing business with them again, they just lost a loyal customer. They called back one last time and my husband spoke with them. They would be driving to the order to our house and picking up the incorrect order. They called while in the car and asked us to come out to get the order and sat in the driveway, and did not make the effort to come to the door. My husband went out to get our food. They asked for the order we had received to be returned. My husband about lost it (he is a very patient man). He asked them to make an effort, so they got out of their car (a very nice one) and stood there defiantley but did not make an effort to come and get it. My husband then returned to the house to get the order we had been delivered incorrectly, went back to their car, they then handed our correct order. Thankfully, there was nothing wrong with the new order we had been delivered. Unfortunately, we won't be doing business there again and will share our experience with others. Hopefully, this post will make them think about serving their customer's needs and making...

Decent Vietnamese Food in Admiral

There aren't a lot of Asian restaurants in West Seattle, so support the ones that exist if you want to keep them. New Leaf is clean, the food is good, and the servers are friendly. There's not much else you can ask for.

The Pho is balanced fairly well and satisfies your cold weather soup craving. It's not the best pho I've ever had (and could stand to be served a bit hotter), but it's better than Pho Than Brothers, down the street. It's perfectly serviceable and probably the best you're going to find without going to Little Saigon or White Center.

The "egg rolls" (crispy spring rolls) are extremely delicious; perfectly fried to an ideal crispiness in clean oil and served with Mae Ploy Sweet Chili Sauce.

The Mango "Bubble Tea" ($3.50) is decent. They could stand to use more milk; I'm also not convinced there's any "tea" -- more just mango powder, ice, and milk. It's more of a smoothie than a milkshake. Oasis in Chinatown makes better smoothies and tea drinks, but this satisfies your sweet tooth on a budget.

West Seattle Residents: please give this place a shot and try something different, for once. People coming into a Vietnamese restaurant for 'Chow Mein and Egg Rolls' and other obviously Chinese-American dishes is strange and depressing. Each Asian country has their own cuisine. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. At the very least, try a BBQ Pork Bánh Mì (which is a delicious sandwich with sugar-glaze roasted pork, mayonnaise, pickles, and cilantro, all on a crispy baguette).

We'll be back to try it...

We arrived on a busy Friday night and got a table near the door, then they let us move away from the door with its cold blast of air. The wok fried golden tofu appetizer was satisfying with a spicy sublte taste. We each had pho, Eye of round in my case and combination (all the beef options) for my wife. The small size was plenty big and I had some left to take home. Wow this food was good! We love pho all over Seattle and used to get Pho Tan Brothers frequently when we lived on Queen Anne Hill. I think this broth is tastier. Also, they have an extensive menu, so you can eat a variety of SE Asian dishes. I am looking forward to going back. You might try parking in the rear. There is that long skinny lot that serves Wells Fargo and other merchants including New Leaf. We got lucky on California Avenue. Even though it was a busy Friday dinner time, our food came in less than...

7/28/23 Update: Still love their mango salad but found some new favorites: 7 flavored beef, chicken lemongrass rolls (comes with fish sauce instead of peanut sauce). Both fantastic. ***** prior review below still applies: I love that they have specialty Vietnamese dishes here (bunh bo hue, banh Hoi, banh canh) that you usually can't get unless you're in the ID but my favorite dish that they serve here is their mango salad. Perfectly seasoned with sweat chili fish sauce dressing and tossed with shrimp. I can eat this everyday and be perfectly happy. Next time you're there, get some. You'll thank me later.

I live near New Leaf and it had never appealed to me. I walked in this afternoon with low expectations (forgot my car was still downtown so I couldn't go far). I was pleasantly surprised. Great food and a nice cold beer. I had eggrolls, beef pho and even ordered a bah mi to-go for dinner (haven’t tasted that yet). Good service, clean and relaxed restaurant, nice happy hour specials and overall inexpensive. Give it a try.
