Nick's on Madison — Restaurant in Seattle

Rude staff. Bad atmosphere. I went on Friday at 4:20 with my husband, mother in law, and 18 month old and it was completely dead. Not another person seated. Immediately upon walking in the server had an unwelcoming aura. (Our 18 month old was in a great mood, and there were no signs saying no persons under 18.) When my husband asked for a high chair the server raised her eye brows and said sure. She brought it to our table and my mother in law asked if it could be placed across from the seat beside her and the server said “I’ll let you figure it out” and dropped the highchair. I went around and got it, placed it where we wanted it and put my daughter in. We felt incredibly unwelcome and decided to leave. As we took our daughter out of the high chair she started to cry, and as we were walking out I heard the bartender laugh loudly and say to another person “I’m glad I won’t have to listen to that for three hours.” It was really rude. She was only crying because she was taken out of the chair and was well behaved when we arrived. It’s not family friendly. It’s not any kind of friendly. Holy COW!! We had made a reservation online at another local establishment and when we arrived they were closed - we decided to try a new place and called Nick and he set up a table outside for us! That alone would have made us feel special on our first date night in months, but the food, drinks, and service were exemplary. We stuffed ourselves and still ended up eating leftovers on the ride home; thinking about the steamed pork bun and French dip was just too overwhelming! The Brussels sprouts were also the BEST I have ever, ever had... And that's no small feat! Everything was super fresh and delicious, and we felt like regulars by the end of our meal even though it was our first time there. We can't wait to come back, and are looking forward to checking out the super cute boutique...

Food was delicious and the staff was great! Highly recommend everything we had! I thought the halibut was freggin delicious and had so many different flavors that mixed so well together, from pickled red onions to spicy green curry. Sopo good! Boyfriend loved his French dip, and after stealing his fries, I at least agree on that part! Ha. We started with the shrimp cocktail and were pleasantly surprised by how good their cocktail sauce was, mixed with large avocado chunks... just get it! We topped the night off with their version of a chocolate sundae. Which was, of course, delicious, but more of a brownie sundae, so even better! Carmel and chocolate drizzels over the top, and delicous candied walnuts! I should also mention how adorable the decor was! So modern, and fresh. Loved...
