Edit: the owner described the pricing discrepancy, we’re all on the same page now. Apparently they will charge you for an extra cup with ice. It makes sense with material costs so high these days.
I want to start out by saying that we have been very regular customers of this shop for well over a year.
But we noticed something strange in the way we get charged.
It was always inconsistent. Difference in 50 cents here. 25 cents there. Sometimes as much as a dollar different.
I know that 50 cents doesn’t seem like much but it’s 10% price difference on a 5 dollar coffee. (Always the same coffee order)
Anyway, I decided to ask what the deal was one day and honestly the answer I got was pretty surprising.
Sometimes I order the same coffee just in a larger cup to accommodate for extra ice (no extra shots, milk, sauces, or anything)
Apparently they will charge you according to the cup size NOT the amount of drink you get. Again not consistently - some of the baristas don’t up charge us but the owner(?) does.
But get this - if you order a drink and an extra cup of ice, that extra cup of ice is free.
So… what are they charging us extra for? Saving them material?
I suppose in the future I will order a drink with no ice and then a cup with all ice. But then that’s just going to slow down the line even more.
I truly don’t understand why a local coffee shop would try to nickel and dime their customers in this way. Very disappointing.
Honestly - the most surprising thing is that the owner(?) would treat a customer this way who frequents their shop 3-4 times a week and always tipping.
It’s not so much about the 50 cents difference. It’s about the...

Read moreMy family and I love Rooster and have been coming here for a while. They have great coffee & snacks that are very affordable compared to other Seattle coffee shops. While most of the baristas are very friendly, I have consistently had negative experiences in the past year with a specific barista. They have a very unfriendly and unwelcoming attitude, which truly does change the experience of the customer and makes me not want...
