Ive been coming here quite frequently since the the pandemic started and after months of high quality service and impeccable consistency I felt i owed them a review. Never during the ups and downs of the past few months have i received a bad cup of coffee. im not a barista i do know that its incredibly difficult to get it right every day. There are so many factors that can go wrong so i do expect every once in a while to get a bad cup even from the best of establishments. That has never happened. Not once. Every time its served politely with a freindly smile and ALWAYS in a real cup. I truly feel like they respect their customers. They dont compromise on taste. The crossaints (technically cornettos) are delicious. For me thats whats important. The rest of the food is....ok. good enough for a coffee shop but i wouldn't come here for the food. They focus on the coffee here and for that I am grateful. The decor is beautiful as well. While the tables and chairs are well worn and the fake leather couches are cracked and torn i hardly notice because the shop is always filled with a rotating gallery of local artists. All the peices for sale and if i had the money i would definitely spring for one, or two! The center peice is a beautiful glass sculpture spanning both levels. while it sits dusty it is always a pleasure to ponder.
Through the hallway theres a bulletin board stuffed with fliers events and advertisements for the community the recurring theme always rings support local. The bathrooms are......well they could be worse. Often a line forming to occupy the single space. Outlets here are usually able to be had. Sometimes when its busy it requires a bit of scouting but thats all part of the fun. Ok now the fun part The Coffee: The coffee itself lends itself a beautiful chocolaty taste. Nutty rich and warm. The drip somehow has a hint of natural sweetness to it which i find delightful. Like most seattle espressos its made to be consumed with at least a hint of milk and from their lattes to machiattos they just always get it right.
I would Highly recommend patronizing this shop. They respect their customers and it shows. I will keep coming back and I hope...
Read moreI'm new to Seattle, but I've heard great things about the coffee here. I got the drip coffee 3 days ago on Saturday, and it was remarkably watery. The menu said "drip / french press" so I assume they have some giant press for this. Today, Tuesday, I went back and the drip was watery again.j So I asked the barista if she had tried it herself and she said, "well it's french press. I can put a shot of espresso in it for you." Perhaps my roommate used to make french press with more gusto, but I've never had a weaker cup o' joe. My understanding of a french press too is that you just leave the coffee and water together in the press for 5-10 minutes until the water is saturated with the coffee oils. If it's watery, it's most likely just that you didn't put enough beans in or didn't let it sit long enough. French press is supposed to be a very robust cup because of this compared to chemex brewing which just drains relatively quickly and is therefore lighter and brighter. Next time I'll check to see if they've made any adjustments in their drip / french press recipe and probably just get an...
Read moreOverall i don't recommend it. Here is why... recently visited this place, after reading some reviews No parking space, meaning place is basically for the people living within walking distance. standard drip coffee was really bad, here is the thing for local coffee shops, if you are charging money equivalent to Starbucks please have some quality/ standard also at par with money. For starters make it hot not lukewarm, fresh not oxidized. baristas are nice, no issues there, it's just the quality is not par relative to money also chai , is basically pre-made mix of tea with dried ginger powder mixed with skim milk- wasn't good plus it's too sweet for real Chai. place has good seating availability for local Seattle coffee shops no free wifi, not big deal but again- if you're charging money like Starbucks maintain hi speed free wifi as standard option. food is all pre-packaged possibly coming from third party vendor, not many vegan options All in all, won't recommend it, won't...
