Yes, and no!
Yen Wor had a stage, a dance floor, a strobing disco ball, and tables facing in such a direction as to be more convenient for social dynamics than eating.
Food is above-par for American pizza. I am Italian. Therefore, I am additionally picky.
Tables are more for "friendship clusters," or "cliches," than convo and introductions in a social setting. Involving alcohol.
No stage = No center of attention for patrons during their turn. Lackluster.
No dance floor? Imagine David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Faith No More, or anything thick bassline--without dancing. Again, -1 lackluster.
That said, your options for socializing, and karaoke, post-corona, are limited. Pizza is respectable--perfect for a regular Seattle-ite, or regular Murican.
Drinks? The usual. It doesn't matter whether you're at Tallarico's, or any club--brand names are brand names to the continental US of A.
The DJ? I have complaints. Mixed complaints.
I LOVE this man, down to his groovy shades!
However, when your personal preference is hip-hop, and Seattle is built on metal, rock, grunge--please at least have local bands, both their famous and underground-famous numbers, and Billy Idol. They had Rebel Yell, or White Wedding--I forget which--when they should have both radio-famous numbers, along with diversity.
I picked one of the two, the only option, only to have the lyrics parser float all over the screen, rather than syncing, and the lyrics appearing, with the singer. This killed my first night at Tallarico's, and with certain patrons, perhaps Tallarico's entire karaoke night.
It's ok to enjoy hip-hop.
It's essential to have diversity.
And working renditions of popular songs, at the least.
Context-wise, if they expand and fix their binder, this is the perfect location for a friendship gathering, maybe a date, and broad socialization only if the room contains a centralized stage, and a dance floor, to center the room around each performer during their five minutes of fame, glory, or hollering Backstreet boys offkey, without harmonizing, with zero syncopation, while you females breadcrumb mentally-impaired males into dancing to your bad performance to gain attention for shoddy worksmanship.
I'll dance too.
If you install a dance floor, and buy me a...
Read moreSaturday night at 6pm is when we arrived and were seated instantly which is a plus. Be aware that this place gets busy past 7pm on weekend nights for seating. Once ordering, the kitchen is extremely efficient and was able to push out our mega/jumbo pizza in a matter of 15-20 minutes. These pizzas are HUGE. Four guys can pound one of them out at two thin slices a person. I do believe that this 28inch pizza feeds more like 4-6 people as opposed to the stated 8 people due to the thin crust. Once the pizza came out, it was huge and took up most of the table. I did particularly like the fact that oregano was available in a shaker on the table. The pizza was delicious but missing the pepperoni. After notifying the wait staff, they offered to remake the pizza, however we declined as it would be a waste of food. As a remedy, the manager personally came over and apologized for the mishap and offered compensation in the form of a round of drinks. It was the kind and unexpected move that improved the dining experience. The care for the customer is of up-most importance and we felt as if the staff and managers wanted to ensure a good experience. This is something that needs to be more prevalent in restaurants today. Once all said and done, the pizzeria really took us by surprise and we were delighted to visit. One improvement note would be to spice up the crust in some way or form. It felt dry and flavorless. Some garlic and butter would go a long way in improving the taste. Another note to visitors, it is a bit loud at times, which isn't a bad thing, but just needs to be noted if you're looking for a quiet environment. Definitly recommend the stop in West Seattle if you're looking for a good food/pizza experience.
TL;DR: Good food, managers/staff care about the visitors, jumbo pizza is a 6 person meal,...
Read moreI visited this place during happy hour. I just wanted a drink and something to eat with it. Once we were seated in what felt like the coldest section of the restaurant, we waited for 15 minutes to receive a drink. I was close to leaving but the drink finally arrived. I ordered two slices and a salad. The salad was delicious and probably the best part of the experience. Pizza slices arrived shortly after. The pizza slice was cold, and it was obvious they use the same cheese pizza and just throw a pile of toppings to make it "made to order". It might taste better if they heat it up with the addition of toppings. After eating it took ages to get a check. When the server brought the check, she said "no rush", as if I wanted to wait longer to leave. I never understood why restaurants do this. If the server is conducting the transaction, then why not stick around for the two seconds it takes to pull out a credit card or cash? I'm not about it, so I took the check to the front counter to pay. The door greeter or whatever her position was, looked stumped and confused. She asked if I needed seating, and I explained that I was here to pay my bill, which I was holding in my hand on the counter. After she tapped a few buttons on the screen it was apparent that she didn't know how to work the register, and called for my server. The server was kind but appeared annoyed and probably stressed due to being understaffed. Reading the other reviews on google it seems that the lower ranking reviews were consistently about the poor service. I don't believe that the staff are at fault for this, the management/ownership should figure out that business is good so why not hire more servers? Fortunately the neighborhood is full of bars and restaurants so I won't have to ever waste my time...
