Look, I am not someone who usually posts reviews but my friend and I were scammed. Our friends were going to the cat cafe around the corner and I'm allergic to cats so we stopped by for a drink while we waited. I bought a flight of wine and a glass form my friend and I went over to look at the games. The male presenting bar tender came over to let me know they charged $20 to play games. I responded that we were only there for one hour and that was not worth it for one game, they responded "yeah it's worth it if your here all day" Then they quietly said to us,"well what do you want to play though?" And then very non-chalanantly handed us Exploding Kitten and gave us a nod" it was clear to both of us that they were letting us play for free. When I lefty bill was $68 and they said "I went ahead and added that $20 game fee on your tab. Both my friend and I were very upset since they clearly lead us on and the charged us anyway. And on top of all this they still had the GoodWill sticker on it with the price $4.99. Super tacky and just made us feel gross.

A unique establishment that manages to combine all the best parts of a wine bar, brewery, and board game cafe all into one cozy gathering spot! Whether you’re grabbing a drink at the bar or getting sucked into an hours-long board game, you’re sure to run into the owner, Elijah, and his friendly team. We enjoyed the Asian Pear cider on tap and will definitely be back to try their wine selection and play more Root (warning: lots of patience required). There is no kitchen, but we were excited to hear that bringing your own meal (and board games) is allowed! Even though they are still setting up and getting their feet on the ground, I highly recommend U Wine Bar to all other local night owls and board game enthusiasts!

U Wine Bar in Wallingford/Fremont has a wonderful selection of local and foreign wines, extremely comfortable tables chairs and ambience, combined with board games and card games, such as Magic: the Gathering! (Boosters, Commander decks and card sleeves available) Bring in your own food, order from a restaurant nearby or snack on a couple of delicious treats they have available! Extremely friendly staff, outdoor area when the weather is nice and an overall fun and classy place! Check it out Tue evenings for Magic: the Gathering - Commander night or Fridays for Friday-Night-Magic if you’re a Magic player or any night to enjoy good wine and some laughs with friends 👍🏻

The two seasonal flights I tried did not disappoint. The progression from a sparkling to a juicy red was absolutely lovely, and I really appreciated being encouraged to step outside my comfort zone with an orange wine—something I’d normally never choose but could truly appreciate for its unique, bold flavor. I also loved their focus on supporting women-owned and smaller vineyards with rich history and character.

The owner was so kind and welcoming, making sure we didn’t feel rushed even though we arrived about 45 minutes before closing. He told us the experience was meant to be enjoyed, and it truly was. I also enjoyed the unexpected bonus of board games. I’m not usually a board game person, but playing one with my spouse ended up being a lot of fun.

This place is truly a little gem. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves quality wine, community,...

$10 for access to a board game library—I don’t know….I think that as a business you will be most successful if you cultivate community. Charging for games, cold shoulders, and lack of expertise for 12 dollar 2 ounce pours just isn’t a good look. I get that we are all dealing with the current economy in different ways-but I can tell you this is NOT the way.

I know I usually put on the ritz a little more on these tell-alls—but this one hit close to home. Definitely recommend Moxx Boarding House for a far superior board game experience.

EDIT- ranked even lower due to your petty, petty, owner response. im just curious, what inspired YOU to question the validity of a customer. also, obviously, this isnt my name on my credit card dummy. trans people exist, #lookitupbuster btw, the other wine places were better so thats why....
