Came in here at noon for lunch before a 1o clock appointment down the block.
It was Seattle Restaurant Week with a couple special menu options which was a nice surprise! It was pretty slow and empty in the restaurant so I was seated at the bar immediately.
I ordered and paid with the QR code and then waited. I opted for a snow crab dashi ramen with the honey cake dessert, as well as a cherry yuzu NA spritz.
I was a little concerned when 10 minutes went by and I didn’t get a beverage. Okay maybe with this ordering system, all your stuff comes at the same time.
Nope! The beverage came a couple minutes later. It was very tasty!
Unfortunately the same time scale seemed to be in play for my ramen. Around 12:40, the host/single waiter came by to confirm “you’re just waiting for dessert right?” I informed him that, “no, in fact, I’m waiting for the ramen”. “Oh! well i’m sure it will be out soon”
Perhaps 7 minutes later, around 12:47 now, his prediction came true, and my ramen came.
The ramen was good! But not what I expected. Unfortunately there were no item descriptions so I could not see what was included in the soup, I just went with which name sounded good and hoped it would be pretty similar to ramen I’d had before. Additionally, the waiter hadn’t stuck around to answer any questions, nor was I attended to at any point except to bring my order.
Anyhow, there were not really any toppings or vegetables in the ramen except for bamboo shoots, and lots of what I think was fluffy crab and of course noodles. The broth was indeed tasty, but it was also scalding hot, which I’m not sure if that’s my or their problem. Maybe because I was in such a rush to eat, I didn’t stop to check how hot it was before eating. However I’ve never burned the roof of my mouth with ramen before today.
The cake was tasty! But nothing to write home about.
In summation: Business was slow, but service and food were slower (no fault to the employees, but a little baffling). Menu was lacking in descriptions, which led me to choose a dish I may not have wanted had I known more. The broth was scalding, that seems like something that’s avoidable IMO.
I would probably come here again if friends were going, but I’m not blown away by the experience, especially...
Read moreWe came here for first time and tried Seattle restaurant week menu. I read reviews so that I hoped great... Disappointed...
We ordered Seattle restaurant week $35/ person menu: the appetizers are "Aburi wagyu" and "wild mushroom tempura", wagyu was just too much fat and oily cooking with mushroom puree just doesn't work well. The tempura was disaster. Tempura supposed to taste ingredients. Their tempura was heavily buttered. It taste just crunchy butter, it killed completly mushrooms' taste and texture. The main, we picked "spicy wagyu ranen" Not spicy at all, just thick heavy soup with a few slice of wagu steaks. They need to rethink their entire course how taste with other course menu. Heavy oily appetizers + heavy creamy oily soup ramen??? Yes, we picked those from their menu opitions because they sold out "maguro (tuna)" so that we couldn't pick it which was possibly light and less oily option. The desert: "Macha roll cake" and "kabocha zenzai" Actually Macha was good, less sweet and good taste of Macha. Kabocha zenzai is just put cut fruits and ice cream together. Come on! Do better. Honestly it was not worth that value overall. I rather go to different place than here. Also service was not great either. We know we came there 9pm, they close 10pm so that they want us to finish quick. But still most of tables are occupied. They should come around tables for last call at least not just shush off us for additional order. Also they brought food sooner to next table than us who came and ordered later than us. We dine in indoor. They checked ID and vaccination card but their indoor tables are not 6 feet part. We could touch next tables people. I'm 5'3", 123 lb, I slide my body side way to accessing my chair because tables next us were so close. They need to work on their...
Read moreWas not too impressed. Ramen wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special, bowls are also shaped so it appears like more food from a top view but in reality can be a little scarce. I'm usually the big eater in this group but my entire party was still hungry afterwards so that says something.
Okonomi-Yaki - we ordered this with scallops and no one even tasted or saw one scallop so pretty sure they left it out and still charged us (scallop was $4 extra). Besides that, it's a pancake loaded with some sort of BBQ sauce or A1 sauce that overpowers every flavor. Extremely disappointing item.
Fisherman Ramen - I enjoyed this with the salmon and clams. I believe it was also supposed to come with scallops and those weren't present. There were 7 clams. They might've ran out of scallops seeing as how two items (this ramen and the okonomi) lacked scallops. No clarity or notice though, so that's a bad sign.
Wagyu Shoyu Ramen - the broth here was particularly saltier but it is shoyu so the soy sauce sodium is expected. Three pieces of wagyu beef. It seems appealing due to the popularity of wagyu these days, but probably outshined by the other options.
Aburi Shime Saba Pressed Sushi - tasty mackerel, the sushi here actually seemed really promising! However, all things considered, I couldn't justify pushing the rating higher. If my party and I had only opted for the sushi options, I think our experience would've been much more enjoyable albeit pricier.
Overall, the okonomiyaki and ramen were super underwhelming. Savory pancake was just some dough loaded with sauce. Ramen was inconsistent and small with some specified toppings missing as if they're trying to save money by "forgetting" one item...
