The Octopus Bar is a lively and entertaining establishment that offers a unique experience with its fun lighting, captivating nautical theme, and delightful culinary offerings. With its real fish tanks, tasty sandwiches, and exciting karaoke nights on Sundays, it's no wonder this place has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. One of the standout features of The Octopus Bar is its ambiance. The fun lighting adds a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, setting the stage for an enjoyable night out. The nautical theme is evident throughout the bar, creating a whimsical and charming setting. The presence of real fish tanks adds an extra touch of fascination and serves as a great conversation starter. Speaking of conversation, the tasty sandwiches at The Octopus Bar are a true delight. Whether you're in the mood for a classic favorite or a creative twist, their menu offers a variety of options to satisfy your cravings. From fresh ingredients to well-balanced flavors, their sandwiches are a testament to their commitment to quality and taste. Sunday nights at The Octopus Bar are particularly memorable, thanks to their fun karaoke nights. It's an opportunity for patrons to showcase their singing talents and enjoy a lively evening filled with laughter and entertainment. It's a great way to meet new people and create lasting connections, as you and your fiancée have experienced firsthand. The Octopus Bar provides a vibrant platform for socializing and fostering a sense of community. The Octopus Bar attracts a fun and youthful crowd, adding to the overall energy and excitement of the place. It's a fantastic venue for those seeking a lively atmosphere and a chance to mingle with like-minded individuals. The diverse mix of patrons adds to the vibrant and inclusive vibe, making it easy to strike up conversations and forge new friendships. The bartenders at The Octopus Bar deserve a special mention. Their wonderful and energetic personalities contribute significantly to the overall experience. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to serve up delicious drinks with a smile. Their enthusiasm adds to the positive and upbeat ambiance, making every visit a memorable one. While The Octopus Bar offers an overall enjoyable experience, there is room for improvement to reach the highest rating. Occasionally, the crowd can get quite loud, which may hinder conversation or relaxation for some individuals seeking a quieter atmosphere. Additionally, the bar could benefit from expanding their menu to offer a wider range of food options to cater to different preferences. In summary, The Octopus Bar is undoubtedly a place to have a great time, meet interesting people, and immerse yourself in a memorable experience.

Pseudo-slummy broken in neighborhood bar, loyal looking clientele and thoughtful lighting. Ropes, bouys, life jackets and caged dolls above the bar are highlights. Baudelaire is quoted on the menu, to the delight of many a hipster I'm sure. Competent and swift service on a Saturday night. Organized bar, good sight lines, clean Betty Page-infested bathrooms, not that we're complaining. Could do without the (few) TVs playing sports and thoroughly modern "top 40" music, but these are both easily ignored after some affordable Vida mezcal. Happy hour prices are legit and the $3 coffee is low acidity - always a plus. Cocktails are unsurprising but dialed in. Have not tried the food but seems reasonable. Highly recommended and I'll return. Staff is friendly and helpful.

My friends and I used to go here all the time for their trivia night, until the last time we went about a month ago. The six of us got there and pretty quickly ordered food through the QR codes, I think a total of five of their appetizers. Three of us got drinks from the bar and the other three stuck with water for the start. However, the trivia host repeatedly harassed our table throughout the night because of a new rule that “every single person at the table needs to have a drink in front of them throughout trivia.” He called our table out over the mic several times to go and order three more drinks or else we would be disqualified from trivia. And anytime one of us finished a drink, he immediately pushed us to go buy another one. Didn’t matter that we ordered about $60 in food and $35 in drinks already. At one point, my friend got up to order another can of rainier, the host walked up to our table, grabbed the empty can and said “Nice try with the fake empty.” and aggressively took it away. I later learned that he went right over to my friend at the bar and repeated the same thing to him. The host also said to him “are you going to buy your partner a drink too?” My friend gave in and bought his partner a fountain soda which was five bucks, flat, and room temp…

I bought one of their thirteen dollar cocktails and was planning on having that one drink then switching to water, but once he made it very clear that we needed to keep a drink in front of us at all times, I stopped drinking my cocktail so it wouldn’t get empty and I wouldn’t have to go spend five bucks on a flat soda.

We were uncomfortable the entire time and honestly couldn’t wait for trivia to end. Needless to say we’re on the hunt for a better trivia place and have been warning people away from here because of the...

This is the worst bar I've been to in my life. On labour day weekend (Sunday night Sept 4, 2016) I brought my friends who were visiting from Alaska to try this bar. I'm also new in the Wallingford area and always walked by it and wanted to try it also. Well, we got there at 1:15 am and all bought glasses of beer and went outside on the patio. At 1:40 one of the bartenders comes out and starts yelling at the patrons saying its time to go the patio is closing. Then, we go inside the bar and at 1:50 am the bartender starts walking up to everyone demanding that they give him back the drinks we bought and leave because the bar is closing!!!! OMG!! This was incredulous! I've never seen anything like this in my life I thought I was in a dream. A bartender asking patrons for their drinks BACK and telling them to get the hell out of the bar? I heard one of the staff say "let's start cracking heads in this place!" to get people out of here. It was a nightmare and I was so embarrassed that I brought my friends there. I will NEVER go back to this place again even if you paid me to. Maybe I'm too Canadian (i.e. polite) but where I'm from you don't treat paying patrons like this. I say if you don't want to work odd hours get out of the hospitality industry, don't make your guest feel like crap cause they are out for some drinks on a long weekend. ...
