When I realized that I had paid $9 for my Yaki-Imo Brûlée soft-serve sundae, I almost lost my appetite. However, after the first bite, this sundae proved to be one of the best ice cream sundaes I’ve had in Seattle. It is truly worth every penny.
Indigo Cow’s soft-serve is Hokkaido style, which means it’s not overly sweet. If you have a hard time picking flavors, you’re in luck because this place only has one—milk (or matcha sometimes). I don’t mind the flavor alone, but it’s best when paired with one of their toppings or syrups.
Nevertheless, if you’re going to Indigo Cow, you’re amiss if you don’t order the Yaki-Imo sundae. The creamy and crunchy sweet potato is perfect with the soft-serve. It’s the ideal balance of flavors, and a combination I haven’t seen before.
Truly I was blown away by this experience. And my boyfriend agreed. I wish I hadn’t taken him though, so that I could’ve eaten the entire thing by myself. Whatever.
Seattle doesn’t have much in the means of soft-serve, and honestly Indigo Cow isn’t similar to the soft-serve I grew up with in Pennsylvania. If you want that classic country fair chocolate vanilla swirl, this isn’t your place. But if you want something debatably better and definitely more refined, check...
Read moreI automatically give this review a 5/5 because it is rare to eat ice cream with milk imbued with a flavor similar to vanilla, but never using vanilla extract. This is a strong recommendation to try their ice cream.
I'm from Los Angeles, California. I can confirm, without any doubts, the flavor of the Indigo Cow's ice cream made with Hokkaido milk is the same flavor found in the Hokkaido Soft Roll Cake sold in Tokyo Central. I've been searching for vanilla ice cream that is purer in the ingredient list without the use of fillers and texture modifiers seen in store bought ice cream. Haagen Daaz fills my category because the taste has been consistent for years without the taste of the fillers and texture modifiers. I wanted more from a vanilla ice cream, but knew the flavor of the milk determines the base flavor of the ice cream. Indigo Cow happens to be the only place I know providing this type of Ice cream in the US. There is noting to compare it against. It's very unique of an ice cream. This is a strong recommendation to try their ice cream. I cannot get enough of this milk. I wish I could acquire a pint or quart of...
Read moreThe rating for this place is incredibly unfair. Indigo cow is the best soft serve I’ve ever eaten and this is coming from a sweet treat freak. The chocolate sauce is decadent and thick instead of thin and runny and syrupy like most other places, the matcha is just the right strength, not too weak and vanilla-y, the mochi is the perfect texture as well- adding something fun to the eating experience, and the staff is knowledgeable about the ingredients, helpful, and incredibly friendly! I cannot recommend this place enough. For those saying it’s not enough for the price, you’re paying for quality over quantity. Not to mention you’d be hard pressed to find a quality treat at the grocery store for 6 bucks so why would you expect a huge serving at that price point? Goofy. Sometimes I swear people lack perspective. Reminds me of all the people that complain about tacos not being a buck fifty anymore, and pressuring/expecting small businesses to keep their prices low because “it’s just a taco” — it’s not just soft serve here, these are thoughtfully sourced quality ingredients- if you want a regular-degular half pound of soft...
