I usually don't leave reviews, nevermind negative reviews, and I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant, until tonight. I typically give people the benefit of the doubt and realize there are just some off nights- our experience tonight was beyond that. We went to the Seekonk Newport Creamery and were appalled at not only the rudeness and lack of service, but also the filth of the booth we were seated in. Upon arriving, we waited at the door to be seated (per the sign), with several staff walking by us, making eye contact but no acknowledgement. Someone walked in after us, went to the ice cream counter and was served before we were acknowledged. A member of our party asked if we should just seat ourselves and the girl proceeded to roll her eyes, sigh, and responded with "no we'll do it", seeming rather inconvenienced. A pleasant "we'll be with you in a moment" when we walked in would not have been a difficult greeting- it would've been much more appropriate and would've been much better received (we would have patiently waited). We proceeded to wait for another extended period of time while listening to arguing and yelling in the back kitchen, hearing things such as "I'm cooking", "it only takes 2 seconds to seat someone", "I don't understand why she can't do it". Finally, a younger man came from the back to seat us. I don't even know how anyone thought it would be a good idea to seat someone in the booth with the condition it was in. Half the table was wiped with streaks that made it look as if it was cleaned with dirty water. There were oreo crumbs scattered along the back of the table and along the seat. The floor looked as if the children/family sitting there before us crumbled an entire package of oreos and dumped them on the floor (that's not an exaggeration). There were at least 2 full sets of crayons on the floor as well. Clearly the booth hadn't been swept. As we looked around, the floor at other booths looked similar and there were several empty tables that hadn't been cleared. The ice cream menus had sauce and other food smeared inside them. There were only about 5 or 6 other groups in there with at least 5 staff working. It was completely unacceptable. I've never felt so disgusting sitting in a restaurant- I honestly wish we had taken photos of the area. We decided it was better to leave and go elsewhere for ice cream. As we left, we heard a female wait staff say "now they're playing games". I really hope this team receives more training regarding customer service and cleanliness. Having worked years in retail/customer service I completely understand customers are difficult, the work environment gets chaotic at times, and the stress levels rise easily, but that isn't an excuse for any of what we experienced tonight- there were several other ways the situation could've been handled. Quite...
Read moreI hadn't been to a Newport Creamery in a long while and my husband had never been so I suggested it for dinner tonight and I am certainly regretting it.
I want to start by saying that everyone was nice enough and did address us and our issues with respect. However, just about everything with our order was incorrect. We saw the worker write down our order and it looked correct so I'm not sure what happened between there, entering our order in the system, and getting our food but it was sincerely messed up. I ordered cheese and bacon on my fries which I didn't get but my husband did get it on his and his fries were cold and it was just 2 slices of cold cheese on it so I'm almost glad they forgot it on mine. Even though his fries were correct, as I said they were stone cold, sad, and his chicken sandwich was all wrong. I decided it was unacceptable and went back to get a fresh meal for him. At first they addressed it and while I was waiting I remembered that we never got an order of mozzarella sticks which was legitimately the first thing I said when I walked up to the counter. I think maybe they thought I was just trying to get something free out of a bad situation because a woman came out with a copy of the order that was put in and pointed out that no mozzarella sticks were on the order and that they only charged us for bacon and cheese on the fries and not the chicken sandwich. Thankfully an other woman said they'd take care of that but in order to get my mozzarella sticks I'd have to pay for them. I didn't bring my purse so I didn't do that but quite frankly I think they should've just given them to us anyways as a courtesy for messing up our order so significantly.
Even after all that hassle the food was just bad. And the Awful Awful was, well, awful! It had no flavor or taste of the toppings. Nearly $40 for two horrible meals and two horrible shakes. Needless to say I don't think we'll be back to Newport Creamery and I'm not all too surprised they aren't doing so...
Read moreI have always enjoyed Newport Creamery but today was not that day. Waited long to be seated. The young waitress was overwhelmed which I did not blame her as they seemed to have her serving multiple tables and seating customers. My husband and I had to send back our food because it was cold. My ice cream sundae was served with the 3 toppings separate because the dish was to small?? Why would you offer for us to pay for extra toppings and not have a bigger bowl to fit it. so the young waitress brought over a huge mixing dish🤣! The ice cream had melted so I tried to find the humor in the disappointing service and food. The waitress did her best but I do not think there was a supervisor to help her because the icecream was dripping sloppily down our dishes so she must have been inexperienced or rushed. To make matters worse someone in the kitchen area made loud coughing sounds that seemed exaggerated. My husband and the customers at the next table wanted to say something but we decided it best to write a review. As I said I have ALWAYS liked Newport Creamery but if this is what you get now... We won't be going...
