This place doesn't even deserve a single star rating, but no stars isn't an option. Not only was it lacking in the simplest hotel amenties, like shampoo, a microwave, or a working laundry room (they do have one, but 2 hours in the dryer, and our clothes were still completely soaked), the general manager is a completely incompetent, extremely rude, buffoon. The large section of the second floor, which we stayed in, was supposed to be entirely non-smoking, yet the whole hallway smelled strongly of weed and cigarettes. There were loud motel parties, drunk girls stumbling down the hallways, laughing and crying loudly in the hall, a man who sat in his truck under our window the entire day and night, and every now and then, a car would pull up, someone would get in the truck, hands exchanged things, then they would get back in their car and drive away. I think an explanation of that kind of behavior should be obvious. But the absolute worst part, the reason for the truly no-star rating, was the fact that, my little, grey-haired, 54 year old mother and I, fell on hard times, and had to resort to living in a motel for a little while. We were given a 30 day notice to vacate our apartment, because the owner up and wanted to sell the house. We were always good tenants, who paid our rent, and we suddenly found ourselves homeless, unable to get a rental property in the alotted time. When we checked in, we mentioned we would be there for an undetermined amount of time, and would do our own housekeeping. My mother even bleached/scrubbed the tub before we used it, and it was left more spotless than when we arrived. The lady at the desk said that would be fine if we lived there for a while, as others were doing the same, that they tell them no service to that room, and some people put a note on the door as well. I said, "okay, thank you, can you tell them no service?" We also put a note. It seemed like all was well. We stayed for 2 days, and then two weeks, and when I went back to the desk to pay for another week, she said, "I'm sorry, we can't renew your stay." She would not explain, and said the GM was the one who knew why, and my mom said, "well, is this the GM?" About a gruff man walking in. She didn't answer us, the maintenance man, who clearly felt bad, nodded, and the GM took the clerk to the back, came back, and said it was a "housekeeping issue." We explained that we were told the no service wouldn't be an issue, but offered to let maids in if they absolutely needed to, and he just kept shaking his head and saying no, being quite rude and callous. My boyfriend's mother, who works at the Marriott, explained that the only time they do that to a person, is if they assume they are up to no good, but they always have to have reasonable proof, and an explanation. It felt extremely cruel to kick out a struggling mother and young daughter, in the middle if a tropical storm, I might add, while all those other residents, some with no service signs since the day we arrived, were misbehaving so extremely. Not only are their services severely lacking, but the GM has no decency, not a single kind bone in his bulbous body. Karma will not be kind...
Read moreWorst experience in a motel, budget or otherwise, and that applies to the room itself and the incompetent clerk-with-an-attitude at the front desk (the ONLY employee I saw when we entered and when we checked out a day early after that first night). Upon entering the room, I was struck by how bare it was. With the exception of a telephone on the stand between the beds and a wall-mounted television, the room was totally devoid of even the most basic necessities. We mostly stay in budget motels, oftentimes in Motel 6. I honestly can't recall a room without an alarm clock, at least a couple of hangars for clothes, and more often than not a microwave, dorm-sized fridge (we brought leftovers from dinner expecting to store and reheat them), and maybe a hairdryer in the bathroom. THIS room had only a phone and tv. PERIOD. I checked out the bathroom next. The toilet seat had dried urine stains AND several "hairs" on it. During the night, I pulled the sheet off the bed as I move around a lot in my sleep. When I awakened, I noticed that there was only a flat sheet covering the mattress. There was NO mattress cover to keep it clean, and in fact there was a HUGE stain in the middle of it. Absolutely DISGUSTING. We had paid for two nights to attend a family event nearby, but decided to check out after that first night. When we told the clerk at the front desk we wanted to check out early, I wanted her to know WHY to facilitate our refund. I tried to show her the pictures of the stained mattress, but she refused to even look. I asked her why she's not looking, she said "I don't do the housekeeping"!?! Then she said "this isn't a 5 star motel" as if expecting a clean bathroom and a clean bed was asking too much. Again, she was there when we checked in, and there when we were checking out. IMHO, that makes her the FACE of that particular business. She should've simply apologized for the company and that would've been that. But no. She had to make the point that she's not getting paid to be spoken to that way, and she said she was going to "DNR" (?) me for complaining, when if anything she should've refunded our money. Suddenly, she's taking responsibility for representing the business!? She should either be fired or arrested for being so condescending. The bath "towels" were essentially rags, with clumps of hair embedded into the fibers. Since this is a review, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the positive. The AC worked well, and despite my fears to the contrary, the motel wasn't too noisy. BTW, I read that this motel was being used to house 55 homeless people or families. I guess to them it's better than living in the street, but if you're a paying...
Read moreI've stayed at many Motel 6's though out the country for work. My company and I do construction. Never have I been treated as disrespectfully until my stay at this particular hotel Motel 6 in Seekonk Massachusetts. Around 3am the smoke alarm in my room started chirping. Bad battery. I called the front desk told her what was going on Haley replied "its 3am just unplug the battery" okay... A little annoyed with her condescending attitude i unplugged the battery. Just a couple minutes later it started chirping again. The alarm is also hardwired into the hotel system. Pissed off I called again and told her i pulled the battery but the smoke alarm is also hardwired into the hotel system she replied "look its 3am i cant help you" and hung on me again! I called back pissed of and told her I unplug the battery if I unplug the electrical and the entire hotel alarm goes off I'm not to blame. Its on you. Haley replied "no its on you if they go off you'll be to blame!" I demanded another room. Haley replied "We're sold out" Get me your manager I said. Haley said "he ll be here tomorrow" I started getting really angry and said I'll call the police and have them deal with this alarm issue and hung up on her. I was just about to call 911 - THEN out of nowhere she calls my room and said she found 2 rooms w single beds for us. All that aggravation from haley. Moved into the rooms by almost 4 am and we had to wok construction at 6a that morning. I get to the desk first thing in the morning to find out and the manager doesn't work on Sunday. Haley lied not just about the rooms but that the manager was going to be there Sunday. Come monday when we checked out the manaager and front desk lady were very apologetic when I told them how we were treated. To top it all off if i didn't goto the desk the morning after the fiasco with haley I would've lost my reservation with the new rooms - she didn't even adjust it on the computer! The other front desk lady Denisia (Sp) was very apologetic as well. The incompetence of this idiot haley really put a damper on me and any of our 9 man construction crew to ever stay at that hotel again. And we do a lot of wok in seekonk - I hope they straightened haley out because if not you might be in for the same lousy and disrespectful treatment if something goes wrong with your room late night...
