My family and I had the worst experience we have ever had a restaurant while visiting the IH35 in Selma. When we arrived we were excited to see the parking lot almost empty so assumed we would be seated immediately. Once in the doors that was not the case. There was nobody at the hostess station to greet us. Multiple wait staff walked right past us without even acknowledging we were standing there for over 5 min. Eventually someone stopped and said it would be a while because they were short staffed. That was truly an understatement. We waited almost 30 min for a table when the restaurant was almost empty. Tables were left dirty and full of dishes that nobody was bussing. During this time I took my daughter the the bathroom to find no lighting. There was 1 dim fluorescent light flickering like in a horror movie. I flipped switched and nothing happened. Both stalls were disgustingly dirty, I did not even allow her to sit. Once she completed her business I found no toilet paper in either one of the stalls. Apparently it had been like this though the day because I saw the trashcan next to the toilet full of paper towels so I did the same and wipes her with a paper towel. After going back the the waiting area, I noticed part of the dining area close to the kitchen was closed off due to what appeared to be a leak in the ceiling, maybe a/c. They tired to sit us at a table that was too small for our party located directly next to the tables where the water was Speach I g from the leak. This was unacceptable. We requested a different table that had been sitting dirty for the entire time we were waiting. We were informed we would ha e to wait a while longer because they didn’t have to clean it. After finally sitting at our table our waitress was actually very attentive and did have the best customer service to be expected in such a bad situation. Our food took another 45 min to get there. During our wait and during the entire meal the lights in the dining room we were seated out kept having some sort of electrical short and would flicker then turn off for a few seconds. My husband made light of the situation by singing happy birthday every time this happened. When I was finally able to eat, my meal was cold and After the second shrimp I noticed a funny/slimy texture. It felt it was under cooked. I wasn’t able to cut into it and see, due to the fact that I had my daughter asleep in my arms from crying her self to sleep hungry. I then attempted to eat another shrimp and was positive it was not fully cooked. I had my husband cut into one and just as I expected. It was not fully cooked. It took another 20 min to get the waitress over to notify her. At this time I asked my 7yrar Old why she was not eating her food (grilled cheese sandwich) she replied it tasted funny. So I had my husband try it out. He confirmed a strange taste from it. So now out of 4 meals only 2 were edible, and remember one was not even able to be enjoyed because it took so long to come out that kid passed out. We waited another 15 min for the manager to come and tell us that he was taking the items off our check and that was it. All the while I felt the need to vomit and was not going to do it in that disgusting bathroom. So I went and threw up in the parking lot. I’ve been sick to my stomach all night and had to call in to work, my daughter had stayed home from school with stomach issues as well. I have come to find out that the other 3 families that attended that night also had issues with their food. This was the ultimate worst dinning experience we have ever had. I should’ve just left after I saw that bathroom. The only reason we stayed was because it was my daughter’s birthday weekend and she wanted to eat there for the fried pickles. I am tempted to call the news, this is just not what is expected at any restaurant, much less a franchise as popular as Hooters. I would think there are standards you hold your locations accountable for each time that...
Read moreThe Philly sandwich was awesome. Liked that you added the Texas Philly with the Pico. Yummy. Watress was attentitvw nut not overbearing. The cook must be new. He gave an adequate portion of meat on Philly. Previous visit it was like, where's the meat. Sure, you need portion control to be profitable but never cheat the customer. Maybe the management is better now .
UZPDATE: 8-2-25 There is no Texas Philly anymore. The menu has a fair variety if you want burgers, sandwiches, chicken, and salads. Lots of beers & mixed drinks options as well.
I opted for the traditional Philly sanwhich. I was able to sub a side salad in place of the curly fies that come standard. Tots, french fries, and waffle fries are an upchanged. I really don't understand what makes standard fries, waffle fries, or tots more expensive than curly fries.
The side salad was a good size and fresh. The complaint here is that it was basically lettuce, cheese, and croutons; no tomato or cucumber.
The Philly sandwich was good, but it had no sauce condiment on the bread, making it fairly dry.
We had cheese sticks for our apppitizer. The dip choices were ranch or marinara. We opted for the marinara. The appitizer was good.
FOOD: I givebt h e food 3 stars; nothing special and very average.
SERVICE: I give the serrvice 5 stars. The place k are was not busy at all. We were seated immediately. The waitress was very cordial. She was very attentive and cane by 3 orb4 times to check on us. It wasn't overkill service, but with the customer so sparse, she needed to keep busy, or the manager would be sending someone home. Our meals came exactly as we ordered.
ATMOSPHERE: I give the atmosphere 4.5 stars. The.waitresses were still clad in their orange shorts and white Hooters shirts. Some were in skimpyer shorts and revealed more cleavage / chest. This is likely great for most guys, but not so great fioirv children and some women.
I hear they want to keep the Hooters outfits, but somehow make the place a little more family oriented to reach customers who they feel they miss. It s a fine line to please the guys with eye candy and also be suitable for those who want the girls to be alityle more modest.
Guys are gonna look at the girls, and some girlfriends / wives can handle it. Other females may feel intimidated. The couple needs to either accept the Hooters' atmosphere or find a new spot to dine and...
Read moreI thought I made the wise choice of choosing Hooters to watch the San Antonio Spurs draft their 3rd #1 draft pick in Victor Wembenyama. I knew they would not be as full as most options. I asked the attendant at the door if they would have the NBA draft on? I usually sit at the bar, but it was pretty full. Luckily, they had plenty of empty tables. The waitress said, "they would have the Draft." She then proceeded to sit me in front of a 32' inch plasma screen, second table from the corner wall adjacent to the parking lot. No complaints until I got my order. My waitress decided for me, not asking if I like grilled or fried fish for my big fish sandwich or if I would like salad instead of fries. I sucked it up, noticing she was new. What was disappointing was the manager on duty. The draft came on, but not on the TV, as I was instructed. I tactfully requested waitres to ask her manager to put the draft on tv in front of me. He put it on, but within 5 minutes, he was changing the channel to the World Series. I had to go out of my way to ask why? He disregarded me, as I was the 1st and only person sitting in the far corner prior to new customers. He was rude and extremely inconsiderate. If it was not for the other customers realizing he was wrong, I would have been at a stalemate with him. He put subtitles on after putting the program back on. Super unprofessional. Manager discription: Short, heavyset, semi bold Mexican man, wasn't able to catch his name. I personally won't be coming back anytime soon. The manager is the one messing things up and unable to hold himself accountable. This Hooters will be an afterthought,...
