⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Black Waters Roasters is a true hidden gem near Lake Keowee and Seneca! This cozy, locally owned coffee shop makes some of the best coffee I’ve had in the area—and it’s truly the only local spot of its kind around. You can taste the difference in every cup. They make their own flavored syrups in-house (which is rare and amazing!), and they also sell their own roasted beans, which make a great gift or a treat to take home.
The shop itself is super inviting, with a cool upstairs loft area that’s perfect for relaxing, reading, or catching up with friends. It has a great vibe and feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the usual chain options. My only wish? The cup sizes! Their small is very small—I’d love to see some larger options in the future because the coffee is just that good.
If you’re anywhere near Seneca or the lakes, definitely make a stop here. You won’t be disappointed!

While I have not been to the physical location, I just moved back to Texas from Tokyo and order some coffee beans online. The coffee culture is huge in Tokyo and I got spoiled to buying great light-mid roast Ethiopian. Needless to say I got spoiled to good pour overs. Upon moving back to Texas I struggled to find a coffee that could match what I was used to and fell in love with in Tokyo. I searched a lot of local and online stores only to come up empty handed. However, I reached out to Blackwater Roasters over social media see what they could offer as far as light roast. Their customer support was incredible and they immediately recommended their Mexican Chiapas and Ethiopian Guji. All I have to say is that I no longer have to search for Ethiopian coffee roasted perfectly, nor do I have to return to Tokyo! The Ethiopian Guji is the perfect cup of coffee! The Mexican Chiapas is excellent too and is another great light-mid roast. However, nothing is better than Ethiopian!

Read moreI recently visited this small coffee shop and was pleasantly surprised by how much character it had. The upstairs seating area is a great touch—quiet, inviting, and perfect for meeting up with friends or getting some work done. We did notice a few crawling critters by the windows but were able to enjoy our visit despite them. The atmosphere overall is warm and cozy, making it an easy place to relax and linger.
The coffee was excellent, and I have to give a special shoutout to the iced honey vanilla latte—it was smooth, perfectly balanced, and just the right amount of sweet. Definitely a must-try!
