I had such a great experience at Moon Palace that I looked for a place online to review it. I don't do that very often. I'm very skeptical about the first review that says her pregnant cousin got food poisoning and had to be hospitalized. I've worked in the health care for over 30 yrs, I can tell you that it's almost impossible to know the source of food poisoning. For example, you can get food poisoning from your own kitchen from food and produce you buy at the grocery store. It's unfair to defame a restaurant unless you took the food to a lab and had it tested. Otherwise, it's a meaningless and harmful review. Here's my experience on 3/8/2013: I talked to many people to get recommendations on restaurants because I'm new here. Not one person had anything bad to say about this restaurant. I had read rave reviews about another Chinese restaurant a few blocks away. "Best Chinese food outside of NY City!", one review said. I gave the place 4 chances and the food was mediocre, at best. While shopping in town, I asked several people "Do you know where I can get good Chinese food?" Several people recommended Moon Palace, and the only place that was recommended. I went straight there and placed a "to go" order, which was cooked to order. I ordered Lemon Prawns with Walnuts. It is a favorite of mine and I've ordered it all over the country, but this was the freshest, most delicious I've ever had! I also ordered Singapore Noodles for my friend. It was fabulous! I asked for Medium Spicy and got exactly what I asked for. Just the perfect amount of flavor and seasoning. Moon Palace will be my "GO TO" place whenever I crave Chinese food. The quality of food is obviously the most important. It was obvious that the food was very fresh (shrimp has to be or it's rubbery and awful), the portions were ample. The restaurant was nicely furnished and it was very clean. The chef came out and introduced himself and his wife Cindy, which I thought was pretty classy. He let me know that he would prepare anything I wanted, even if not on the menu. I also like that they do not use MSG at all. I asked about the restaurant history. They've been in business for 23 yrs. George took over the restaurant from his father. He began working there as a teenager during the summer. This couple have a great work ethic and seem to really care about the product they put out and the people they serve. Also, unlike a lot of Chinese restaurants, they are very friendly and hospitable. For those who enjoy a cocktail, they have a full bar. I will be a loyal customer for years to come -- in fact, I'm taking my neighbor there for...
Read moreThe hotel fell just short of 5 stars! The property is HUGE. Lots of walking, which was totally fine. There’s something here for everyone, pools, beach, pool activities, bowling alley (grand) arcade (grand). We stayed at Nizuc, in the center between the grand and sunrise. The rooms were a little noisy, not much of a barrier between the walls and the hallways. Anytime someone would walk by our room talking you could hear it. My other complaint was that we reported to the front desk on Friday that our smoke detector battery was dying and chirping. They said they would fix it but didn’t do so until our last night there. So that was fun listening to the chirping smoke detector and the conversations in the hallways. Overall it was a great experience. The staff is VERY nice. Super clean hotel room, small beach but it’s sandy. I did notice the red flag was out quite a bit for the water. Food was decent. We had absolutely wonderful service at Los Caporels. Sayri was our server two days in a row and she was really nice, attentive and helped us with our Spanish. Mallely at the currency exchange was very friendly too. We did head to the Grand to us the spa. The hydrotherapy spa is WONDERFUL. A little on the pricey side, but we were on vacation, so we splurged. Margarita was wonderful, and Nelly gave me the best massage ever. My boyfriend was massaged by Mayra and he said she got deep into the muscles and was awesome. We are so grateful to everyone we...
Read moreThe Young lady working was very nice,I'm not one to usually complain but the food was awful, The tea smelled so funky like it had been around forever. The tea pot was filthy as well, Lots of residue on the spout like it hadn't been cleaned in a long while. Wontons tasted like raw flour and came in a flavorless cold "broth" The only dish (of 5) that had any vegetables was the chow mein, Just a few streaks of green onion (Or cabbage I couldn't tell) That was it. No peppers onions or pineapple in the sweet and sour, The chicken tasted like it was just dunked in flour and fried. Wasn't battered so it was a chewy weird texture. Fried rice was musty and again had absolutely no veg. Not a pea, Green onion, Carrot nada no egg. Just Bbq pork and old rice. The almond chicken and the fried prawns were Ok. I really hope we just got them on a bad day and Things get better for them....
