Wanted to try something new this morning. Found Sunshine Cafe. First timer. Initial impression was just how cute and simple it was. Very clean. Immediately greeted upon entering as was every group that came in. Metered seating so it was very orderly and not at all chaotic.

For food and drink I was pleasantly surprised that they offered espresso drinks. I ordered an Americano and it had that beautiful crema on top that you expect to see on a well made coffee. Breakfast cocktails were also available which I love. I’m not much of a cocktail with breakfast guy anymore but I love that it’s there.

The food was very well done. Runny yolk on poached egg. Every component on the plate was well seasoned. The little “Tumblers” (fried hash brown balls) were such a great surprise. Also seasoned well. Now portions were small which personally I really appreciate. I was totally satisfied with how I felt afterwards. Not too full but also not left hungry. I’m getting to the age that being overstuffed on filler potatoes and toast aren’t what I want.

Now most of the local clientele won’t pick up on this, but from someone who has worked in bars and high end fine dining restaurants in the hay day of my 20s this place was well run. The communication between the solo server and the kitchen was impressive. That sort of service doesn’t exist in the yocal spots around the area. Every time the kitchen announced an order the server responded “heard.” Also when the server wasn’t busy she was wiping, straightening, and sweeping. Bravo miss. I see you. You killed it. You were efficient and on point. I hope patrons treat you well and tip you fat.

Sunshine Cafe, killer job. Keep up the great work. Your food was interesting and exciting and I...

If you are a foodie that appreciates quality even in your comfort food, this is the place. The owners make it feel like your coming home to eat at your grandma's that used to be a chef. They have genuine customer care and cater to you as if you're are family, seriously a wonderful and rare atmosphere nowadays. Suggestions: I love their iced tea, they actually brew real tea leaves, instead of that powdered stuff everyone else uses. If you are a coffee snob definitely try her cold brew that take 36 hours to brew each batch. They offer a yeast waffle of varied flavors that is decadent and makes all other waffles seem like cardboard. Their bacon is cooked to perfection where is just melts in your mouth. The fries are perfectly moist almost creamy on the inside with that nice crunch on the outside. The breakfast tacos with either steak or brisket are phenomenal. Desert side note: The owners mom is a baker and she bakes a different cookie each week! The put them in jars behind the bar! Drinks and chocolate: They have a pretty full bar and the owner makes all sorts of delicious creative drinks. Its worth stopping in for some afternoon drinks with the fudgy brownie desert.

If you can't tell this is becoming my favorite breakfast and lunch place as I haven't had a bad or meh meal yet from here. Think I'll just make my way through...

The food is awesome…if you can get seated. We had a very disappointing experience there last week. They were very busy on a weekend morning. I was expecting that and happy to wait, but after 20 minutes of standing in the entryway, we, and at least 3 other parties, still had not been even been acknowledged. People kept coming to the door asking if we were already on the waiting list. We had to keep explaining to people that there seemed to be no list, but we weren’t really sure what was happening since the staff refused to speak to us. Finally one party (literally) chased down a server and attempted to order takeout because they couldn’t deal with the chaos of trying to get a table any longer. I understand understaffing and longer wait times on busy summer weekends, but ignoring your customers is just not acceptable. If anything, put out a clipboard for people to sign up on a waiting list themselves rather than leaving us all confused and neglected. We left hungry and wondering if they were intentionally not speaking to us to thin out the crowd; if so it worked. I really wanted to support this place and continue enjoying their amazing food, but after this horrible experience with their lack of customer service, I’ll choose to spend my hard earned...

Would love to come back again once they’ve been open under their new ownership for a bit. We were disappointed they didn’t have their liquor license yet so no mimosas for us. (Not a big deal) Our food took over an hour to come out, I assume they are short staffed like the rest of the country. LOL The the steak was melt in your mouth delicious and the chipotle hollandaise sauce was amazing! Never had anything quite like it! Unfortunately my eggs were very over done, like hard boiled eggs, however someone else at my table ordered the same thing, and hers were cooked perfectly, so it must be hit-or-miss. I will say I found the side salads to be an extremely strange garnish for breakfast food, as it even came on someone’s plate that ordered the French toast. No one touched it and it seemed like such a waste. Melon or other fresh fruit would be more appropriate and less likely to go to waste. My tea was delicious and the server was very kind. I look forward to going back in a couple months when they work out the kinks.

Ignore all previous reviews from prior to about a year ago. New Owners, Better Prices, Great food! I stopped coming many years ago to the previous renditions, but now this is going to be a regular stop when I can make it in. Philly Cheesesteak Omelette w/ coffee was so good, I didn't want it to end. And at a ok price for new economy. ($23.00 pre-tip) The Home fries are the best I've had in a long time. Not too much, not too little, with just the right amount of tender and crunch with a great flavor. Super cool new Owners giving the place a great vibe. What this town needs!
