I wanted to like this restaurant more than I did, but the problem may be what I ordered. Three of us went here and we sat outside and it was quite pleasant, even though the evening was warm. We started with the cheesy garlic bread, which lived up to half of its name in that it was extremely cheesy, but not so much the other half in that it didn’t really taste of garlic. The bread supporting the cheese was not particularly Special. We all got Caesar salads (Included in the price of the meal, which is very nice these days) and they were quite good with excellent croutons The Caesar no salad at dinner does not include bacon, which is good in my opinion. The one in the café I believe does include bacon. Two of us got the eggplant dishes, one of which was eggplant Parmesan, and the other of which was Milanese (almost the same as the parm ) but with Tomato basil 🌿 cream) sauce ) which tasted kind of like Chef Boyardee but I often think that about tomato cream sauces. It didn’t have flavor and kind of sweet. The person who got the eggplant Parmesan got regular red sauce and liked it very much. Again, there was a ton of cheese . For me, that’s just too much and that might probably be a function of me not ordering wisely. But it was a real ton of cheese. Portions are large. The eggplant came with a side of pasta, which was, in my case, doused with too much sauce . The person who got the eggplant parm really enjoyed her pasta side. Finally, one of us got the short rib papardelle. That dish was fine except the Papardelle was actually chewy. Other dishes that people around the us got looked lovely and the people around us were very happy with their meals.
That said, I would try this restaurant again. I would just not order the eggplant Parm or anything that indicated there was cheese on it. Vegetarian options appear limited mostly The eggplant dishes but you can ask them to make other dishes vegetarian and you can do so vegetarian and they will And they will where...
Read moreMy husband and I recently did a pasta making class - their instagram has great up-to-date classes and you directly message them to sign-up (I’m sure you can also call to inquire). The fee per person was $75 for 2-hours, which I thought was pretty reasonable. It was a BYOB and held between 6-8 PM. Becca, the chef and teacher for the night, was absolutely fabulous. She was charismatic, funny, and very helpful with the entire process. She went through a brief history of the restaurant and her cooking background, and got right into the pasta making. The restaurant is small but it was great for a date night, and there was one or two larger groups there as well doing the class together. It was great to meet other couples and get out for the night! We made 3 pastas and our own dough to take home. Keep in mind, this is an interactive class so you will get your hands dirty throughout the entire process! Becca reviewed how to use the KitchenAid attachments, and we were able to use their industrial one due to the class size. She walked around and helped with ensuring we were using the machines correctly and shaping the pasta according to the type.
My only suggestion would be the class was from 6-8 PM… we knew and I guess assumed maybe we would’ve ate closer to the 6 PM mark but we didn’t wind us getting our serving of pasta until about 15 minutes before we were done making it so around 7:45… and we were starved. That was completely on us, however, setting that expecting that we’d sample the pasta closer to the end of the night would’ve been appreciated. Otherwise, we’d love to dine at Forma formally - overall we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend taking any of the classes they offer (pasta and pierogi making)!
*Note that they do sell their fresh pasta and sauce at the restaurant and in some local grocery stores, and the pricing is...
